Fuel comsuption
Hello friends today I like to ask you for the logical fuel comsuption of this car, I think my car has a excess fuel comsuption over 25/30 liter per 100km, I thought a normally fuel consumption in these cars is over 18 liter per 100km.
What do you think? Thank you |
I believe the Generation 3's have a fuel consumption of around 18 mpg. I'm not too sure, though.

Then it sounds like it's time for some maintenance, starting with:
1. Change spark plugs 2. Change/check plug wires 3. Change O2 sensor 4. Change/check fuel filter |

1. Change spark plugs, they are news NGK BUR7EQP and BUR9EQP 2. Change/check plug wires, News NGK wires and I have other kit from Denso at stock. 3. Change O2 sensor, I replaced it with a new NTK licensed by NGK one wire. 4. Change/check fuel filter, pending because I don't find it at spain. |

I don't understand why this ingeneers designed this fuel filter location as complicated. The car is big, they be able to mount it in other position, I think. |
Sorry about this semi thread jack, but its along the same lines. I seem to be running about the same mpg as the OP, I get about 160 miles on 20 gallons so thats about 8 mpg. I have tried all 4, could the injectors be something else to try and flow test/clean?

Couldn't hurt to use some good fuel system cleaner. If your still running the original catalytic converter(s), they could be ready for removal/replacement. Especially the pre-cat.
And the higher the octane the better overall mileage. |
my FD burns more Gas then my M5 but not as bad as your car..
i get about 17-20 liters/ 100 km or 5-6 km/liter which is about 13-13.5 MPG and this is my daily driver now hehe.. I have no 02 sensor or closed loop mode on my car i tried to tune it in the 14's at cruise.. and I use the PFC Inj-D% as an approx monitor.. I try to keep it under a realistic 30% cruising on the highway at 60-75mph it's in the mid to high 20's usually.. although driving slow and gentle doesn't seem to make a huge diff on my fuel economy tho.. but I spent 95% of my trip in vacuume |

I went the petrol station on yesterday and took: 62€(79.36$) of 95 octane fuel, my tank is full. The value of fuel here is: 1.07$ per liter or 0.26 gallons. Totally in my tank is: 73.80liters or 19.49 gallons of fuel. I'm going to run with my car and see the consumption. I will let you know. |

Be very careful with a midpipe. A re-programmed ECU or even a standalone is no real defense against boost creep. Porting the wastegate or leaving in some exhaust restriction (hi-flow cat) is the only real way of preventing it. Search here and read more.
That sounds good. But IIRC, only MON numbers are typically used in Europe and are about 4 points higher than our levels here in the States. That would still be OK, but you wouldn't want to go any lower than 95 MON. I get the CHEVRON TECHRON system cleaner here in the states. You can buy it at most any local auto parts store. I use it 2 or 3 times a year. I've also heard good things about some stuff called BGK 44 Fuel System Cleaner. The rotary engine exhaust temps are significantly hotter than a piston engine. I don't have personal experience, but understand that most universal cats won't last long with a rotary. For what it's worth, I've got a Bonez hi-flow cat and have been very happy with it, but there are some other choices. I'm not sure about Magnaflow. Another topic to search. Other considerations with a midpipe, aside from the creep risk, is noise and smell. A decent quality cat helps with both. |
Well my friends, I have turn on my reserve fuel light on this morning and I think I have to be worried, so worried, I think I need repeat this probe, this is impossible:
200km with 73.80 liters of fuel. 124 miles with 19.49 gallons of fuel. 37 liters per 100km or 6.35mpg. My car has a serious problem, it's throwing my money by the exhaust, it's a egoist car. |

Seriously....I don't see how your car is running or idling. How is the power? What does the exhaust look like when you punch the throttle real hard? Is it pouring out black smoke?

lol damn. I dont even think a single turbo 20B would consume that much fuel, using the stock fuel tank. lol |

Yes, I have black smoke and when I start up cold is impossible breathe near of the car. |
from F to a quarter with normal driving/ some aggressive pulls i get about 150miles.. but when im driving like grandma iv seen over 200.

If you are that concerned, then it's time to pull the injectors to have them cleaned and flow balanced.
