Fuel Bay Door

This may be a dumb question, but I haven't been able to find anything on it, but does anyone know how to fix the Fuel Bay Door, the lever in the cockpit doesn't open it, I have to use my Tire Rod in order to pry it open and this is bad for two reasons.

1. I look rediculous at a gas station.

2. I'm def. damaging the paint.

Any help would be appretiated.

Whoa. A little lube will do wonders if you haven't damaged it. I use a spray teflon, but just about anything will work. You can also take the cover off the pull handle by the drivers door and loosen the nuts and adjust the cable a little.

You have to first determine why it's not working properly. There are couple possibilities:

1) The little pin that holds the door shut isn't retracting anymore

2) The little pin that holds the door shut is completely broken off and the door will flap open whenever you're driving

3) Something's wrong with your cable or trunk release lever (unlikely)

In my case the little pin was broken completely. I had to replace the entire cable assembly that includes a new pin. If your pin is still intact, you may be able to lube it up a bit as stated above and also ensure the little scissor mechanism that actuates the thing is actuating properly when you push the gas release lever down and to the side fully.

or the pin is bent, took mine off straighten it out and haven't had a problem since.

has it ever worked for you?

ruling out user error (because my roommate, friend and I all did the same mistake) was that I saw the arrow pointing inboard and the PUSH label, so I assumed it meant PUSH in direction of arrow ... of course I found this out the first time at a gas station on E .... nothing like looking foolish for 10 minutes until I finally figured it out.

correct way: push lever inboard (towards the passenger seat) and hold in place, then push down.
