Front mount intercooler

What is a good Front mount intercooler that would fit in our 3rd gen stock bumper???

rexstacy 11-07-04 07:46 PM

Are you still on your stock twins, single, what?
Have you considered a vmount or maybe a stock mount?

fd3streetkiller 11-07-04 07:52 PM

No i have a fluidyne and it is fitted like stock right now and yes I have the 99 twins and looking forward to getting a front mount but I still have the stock bumper. Is Greddy a good front mount for stock bumper?

RX7Wishing 11-07-04 08:16 PM

Greddy 2 row is your best bet.

atihun 11-07-04 08:40 PM

Blitz FMIC is one of the easiest and can be installed without removing the front bumper.

iluvmy3rdgen 11-07-04 09:46 PM

Apex FMIC just cause it rocks. And that's what i ordered.

You have to cut about 2 inches of the bumper if you go with a greddy 2 row.

This supports the Apex fmic, no custom fabrication required. Period.

Only problem being that the Apexi FMIC is almost $2,000, WAY TO MUCH IMO.

S-MAN 03-02-05 06:27 PM

Just searching for the same question and i was wondering how well the 3row fits the stock bumper 1reven3rdgen you have to cut about 2inches for the row how much more for the 3row

GoRacer 03-02-05 06:39 PM

The Apexi fits perfect behind the bumper but I did do custom modification for the radiator to slant it at 45^ angle. The Blitz kit allready mounts the radiator at an angle. I did not like my radiator being too low as per the Apexi instructions.

Jason 03-02-05 07:23 PM

For the price the Greddy is the way to go. Both the BLitz and Apexi are overpriced, but very nice setups.

So the blitz FMIC is a straight drop in? it doesnt require no bumper mods?

13BNUT 03-02-05 07:48 PM

What about 3 row????
how much are they running for??

gotorx7 03-02-05 08:02 PM

Blitz.

Battery size/location is the only problem IIRC...

2row lil over 1200 3row lil oover 1300. Why did some have to relocate the radiator?

Jason 03-03-05 08:04 AM

The 3 row fits identical to the 2 row but is an inch thicker in the rear. The radiator is mounted vertical behind the intercooler.

It does not require you to cut the bumper.

Jason

So you cut the same amount of the bumper as the 2 row?

S-MAN 03-03-05 05:25 PM

Jason, i'm getting most of my shit through you, so should i just throw a new bumper on the tab? I would like to get one that alows more air but i like the look of the stock one with the lip i have.

Jason 03-03-05 11:24 PM

You dont have to do a new bumper, but a larger opening will always help.

blitz fmic is a great unit. i looked for a long time between fmic and smic. i found that the blitz is the best all around. it was pretty simple to install ( no need to remove or cut bumper ), gives much better flow to the radiator than most all fmic's ( which is VERY important ). the only drawback is the battery, i used a miata battery which fit perfect.
