forgot to put oil cap back on
 
just wondering if anything could have damaged the motor. it still runs fine but i just noticed that i forgot to put it back on and have been driving it for about a week with it off. there is no oil in the engine bay that splashed out so i am thinking everything will be ok. please help i am stressing.

Did you check your oil level? How is it?

i was warming the car up just now and noticed it so the car being warm i checked the level and it was full and the oil guage in the car is showing right under the 60 mark

and some people complain because we don't write procedures on how to climb stairs safely... wow...

just to be sure; you have checked your gas cap?

Everything should be fine... I'd change the oil though, in case any dust/dirt got into the oil.

That's the nice thing about these cars. Leave the oil cap off and there's no clean up. I did this on a Honda civic and it sprayed shit every where.

You've obviously never forgotten to replace the cap before going out for a session at an HPDE! :o:

Yeah, did that once on a piston engine and didn't get far before smelling it. Quickly shut it off and popped the hood. Good thing burning oil on the exhaust allerted me, only lost a bit over a quart. Stupid piston engines anyhow.

Leaving the cap off isn't something I've done very often, so far twice, and haven't ever lostthe cap ! ! ! LOL
