Flywheel stopper
Hey, Im looking for a place where I can pick up the piece that you use after you take off the transmission and attatch it to your block and it stops the flywheel from moving so you can do a clutch job/remove the 54mm bolt holding the flywheel on without it spinning. its got little teeth on it that sits in the grooves of the flywheel and is held on by 2 or 3 bolts.
A part number or name would be awesome, thanks guys. |

Has anyone used this All RX7 Turbo and RX-8 flywheels and all automatic flexplates

It just sits in the teeth of the flywheel Dan,so YES it will work with an aftermarket flywheel.
The clutch bolts should come off without too much issue though,without the use for this tool. ..unless you are taking the flywheel off to get it machined. |

I didn't need a stopper when I changed my FD's clutch, i just used a 500 lb-ft impact gun :)

If you have a random long pice of metal laying around( old bed frame or sumthing), like 6ft or so, you can use that as leverage to hold the fly wheel. Drill 2 holes in it that align with 2 of the bolt holes for the pressure plate. Let the bar hit the ground to stop the fly wheel from turning. No need to spend $$ or wait...I use that in conjunction with a 1/2 inch breaker bar.
A strong impact should take it right off too... But you can't properly re torque it. |

You really don't need to accurately torque it. If you have a good impact gun, hammer on it with the gun until the nut won't spin any more. If you are using manual tools, get it as tight as you can and you'll be fine.
I have NEVER seen anyone have a problem due to torque on that nut. Dale |
