Flywheel nut and eccentric shaft bolt removal without air tools

Just wanted to share a little tip to help remove the flywheel nut and eshaft bolt.

We all know what a pain they can be to remove. The engine pictured below was giving me fits, so I drove it out a mazda repair shop to try and get them to remove the bolt/nut. They had no luck even using their biggest air gun which was pretty damn big.

I did this all on the engine stand by the way, it didn't take much force or any extra people helping.

So I bought 2 gas torches (the kind that just screw onto a gas can, about $20 each, including the gas), a 5 foot piece of steel tubing, and some Loctite Freeze and Release. I already had a 5 foot breaker bar and a 54mm socket.

Use both torches (being careful not to burn your face off) to heat the bolt or nut for about 5 minutes. On the eshaft bolt it will be hot enough when you start seeing smoke come out of the oil passages. Immediately grab the Freeze and Release and spray about half the can on the nut/bolt. It's gonna make huge clouds of steam so don't choke to death :)

Grab your breaker bar and steel tube (you want about 7-8 foot of leverage), lean on it, and the bolt/nut will spin right off.

I've done this on two engines so far, and it works reliably even on engines where air tools didn't work.
