Flames out the Tailpipe
Just curious, I've seen a lot of you guys with flames shooting out of your tail pipes.
What causes that? |
fuel cut on decel turned off, from what i have gathered its unburnt fuel that is ignited by the heat of the turbine housing. i may be completely wrong as well
|
It also cause your bumper to get dirty and sometimes catch on fire.

Well an open exhaust helps (downpipe, midpipe, catback). But like Mr_Rick has shown, it can go very, very wrong ;)
That's not exaclty what I had in mind. I have a feeling that there was more going on than just an open exhaust shooting a little flame upon deceleration. |

Just curious....how do you turn off the decel fuel cut? |
With a Power FC or something similar.
|
Tho even with a Power Fc it can still happen. Ive had a few instances and even a confirmation that Ive shot a little flame. Though this could be do to my car not being tuned.

nice receipee for flames:
ported engine, open exhaust from turbo, and a rich fuelmap. ;) |

FCEdit Settings 1 increase the rev # under F/C fields. Change to 8100 and you'll never cut fuel. |
Thanks for that picture ^....but is there anyway to perform a similar action with just the commander? As i dont have a datalogit

2 Attachment(s)
i found it...and it was already set to 8100rpm. I have a stock ported single turbo with 3" strait exhaust which bottle necks to 2.25 in the greddy muffler. I dont think i have flames on decel:scratch:
|
no you want to change the "F/C" settings (decel fuel cut recovery speed)
I understand the entertainment factor of creating flames and all, but you do know this wastes fuel? Also I can't be sure if it's going to affect the behavior of the idle controls system on your engine (possible high idle on deceleration). I'd say try it out for the heck of it and then put the settings back |

Assume im retarted for a minute. Which one is decel fuel cut recovery speed...and what do i set it to? |
Set all 3 F/C settings to 8100
thewird |
On that screen:
Rev limit: Allows you to limit how high you can rev your engine. f/c ae - fuel cut when running under normal conditions f/c el - fuel cut when running extra electrical load (rear defroster, fog lights, etc) f/c ac - fuel cut when air conditioner is on idle ae/el/ac - adjust your idle for the same situations above. |
