Fixing Coolant Level Sensor

Alright, so I finally got around to ordering my coolant level sensor from Ray at Malloy Mazda. I should get it tomorrow. Wish I bought it a couple of weeks ago. It is getting warm in Chicago, and I am dying to pull the 7 out of the garage from it's winter slumber.
Anyway, should I put some teflon tape around the sensor before I install it or is the o-ring that comes with the sensor sufficient?
The only reason I ask is because the sensor is made of plastic (poor design in my opinion) and I don't want to screw the threads up installing it.

Id say yes as far as putting the tape on it, it will help prevent it from leaking.

It has a o ring, no need for tape.

Plus, if you wrap too much tape on it your gonna put stress on the "plastic" sensor.

It's actually not an O-ring, it's a rubber washer. That's more than plenty to keep it from leaking. Just clean the surface it's screwing in to and tighten it up. Don't he-man it in there - just nice and snug, and you'll be fine for a very long time to come.

Thanks Dale. BTW, it has been great to have you in the 3rd Gen section lately. I have gotten alot of great tips from you since the days of the FC3S list.
You are right, I realize it is a rubber washer. Wrong terminology.
I am still leary that the damn thing is made out of plastic. In my opinion it should be made of stronger material. Just another weak point in the 3rd Gen coolant system.
