Fixed AC: Fans stay on drain battery
 

I fixed my AC system today, the valve unit thingy stopped sealing/springing all the way out so replaced that then found my ac fuse was blown. Changed it and bam ice cold air. Turn off car fans stay on :/ Figured they would go off in a few minutes went and ate lunch come out and dead battery. Jump the car, get battery back up to charge turn it off same thing. Pull out ac fuse and they turn off.. Any ideas what could be up?

There is probably something that is grounded when it shouldnt be the easiest way to fix the problem is just to hardwire them to a toggle swith and that way itll stay a little cooler and you can control wether to turn them off or on.

This just happened to a friends car. Last night we pulled his motor(for other reasons) to find that his wiring harness, that he knew was in bad shape, actually had areas that had melted inside the car at the fire wall. He had had a few electrical oddities lately and we believe it is do to his harness. This might not be the case with you, but worth a look.

If there is a ground fault somewhere in the wiring, simply hardwiring the radiator fans won't "fix the problem"; he'll likely continue to blow AC fuses because of the ground fault.

You're going to have to take a close look at all your wiring, starting with the relays.

its not actively blowing fuses, the fuse was previously blown *ac system did not work when i bought the car, probably why* now as stated the fans keep running when car is turned off, pulling fuse will turn them off.

Well, here's the deal: the FD's radiator fans are triggered by a set of four relays, and one of them is activated by the A/C. The problem is, the relay switch shouldn't close the circuit with the key turned off unless there is a ground fault somewhere (or someone screwed with the wiring). Continued running with this ground fault could result in blown fuses if you just ignore it and bypass it without diagnosing the problem.
