Hi guys/gals,
First thread on here but thought i'd say hi ! I purchased my first RX7 last week after 4yrs of modified Evo ownership and i don't think i'll ever look back, i'm very happy !! I'm not sure exactly what power my RX is putting out but from the build it could be anywhere between 400 and 500bhp @flywheel. It's a whole new experience compared to a 4x4 rally car but i'm enjoying the learning curve very much. The car needs a little bit of bodywork sorting out but apart from that it's the animal i always wanted. Here's some pics, hope you like !! Spec is as follows: Street ported engine (Dragon Performance) T66 Turbo External Wastegate plumbed into exhaust 1300cc Primary Injectors 800cc (x2) Secondary Injectors mapped through Power FC Aquamist system 1 water injection (mapped on Boost) Power FC Electronic Boost Controller Trust Front Mounted Intercooler Trust Big radiator Swirl Pot + braided hoses (mounted in boot) 2nd Fuel Pump External (mounted in boot) Crane Fireball ignition System Full Panspeed Stainless Steel exhaust Underdrive pullys Twin Plate Clutch Line lock Brake bias adjuster HKS Hypermax Fully Adjustable Coilover Suspension Endless 6 pots front 330mm Grooved front Discs Full Roll Cage Relocated battery Recaro Carbon kevlar seats (Spirit R) Tech edge Wide band kit Greddy white face 60mm Fuel pressue, Oil temp, Water temp and Boost gauges RE-Amemiya front lights Weber Sports Font Bumper Carbon Fibre bonnet Enkie 17" split rim Alloys (Black) Toyo R888 Cut Slick Tyres (255 rear,235 front) Engine components purchased through and installed by Dragon Motorsport. Brake upgrade and HKS Coilover Suspension supplied and fitted by WGT. Engine currently mapped @ 1bar by WGT. |
:bigthumb: Glad to see another happy FD owner.

I thought you were from Isle of Wight Virginia for a second there until I saw your yellow plates? The car looks pretty clean and it is a big difference to an awd car plus its a whole lot lighter.

Welcome to the board!!! Very nice car!

Just be careful in the wet. With all that power and those tires oversteer is never going to be far away. This ain't no AWD car. |
ya dude on a slick street the tail loves to stick out in a turn I ended up spining mine and am sadly paying for it right now. I got too use to my other car and not enough practice on the twisties during bad weather.

sweet ride. glad you see another RX7 owner. :)
|
Nice car! Big change from a EVO to a FD, have fun with your new ride.
|
damn man, that car is sick. could you get a picture of the swirl pot up, and who makes it? anyway, congrats on a beautiful ride
|
ill trade you ;)

Great car! Just wondering how much hp was your EVO. I'm thinking of getting one but didn't think an equally modded EVO would not fair as well as an RX-7. If you wouldn't mind explaing your comparison.

Sorry for the late reply, only just got back to work !
Thanks for the comments, i'm VERY happy with it for sure..... as for comparing it to the Evo, the Evo was 360bhp and would beat the RX7 hands down to 60mph, they would probably be level to about 80mph but after that the RX7 would absolutely kill the Evo... Evo power tails off in 3rd at high revs where as the RX keeps pulling in each gear all through the rev range. As for handling.........in the dry the RX with the cut slicks, coilovers and less weight i think it would out handle the Evo on a track, but as a point to point car on the roads, the Evo is a better all rounder if that makes sense. I wouldn't go back though, not yet anyway ! A tuned quick Evo is more tunable, the power and handling is easily accessible, but for out and out driving and a HUGE grin factor, the RX is the daddies !! Tyres have caught me out in the wet twice already, but nothing major.... summer is nearly here ! :bigthumb: Thanks again for the kind comments ! :D |

Swirl pot picks....

Forgot to say about expect BHP.....
I'm hoping for anywhere between 450bhp and 500bhp at the Flywheel as that is what the engine was built and spec'd for..... until it's been on a dyno i'm not being too definite for obvious reasons. |
Thanks for the reply, your car is badass.
