which first radiator or innercooler?

thinking ahead for summer which should i get first a innercooler or radiator. btw= the radiator is bran new maybe 200 miles

TpCpLaYa 01-25-02 07:59 PM

id say go for the intercooler although i dont see an ECU in your mods so definately git one before you run lean and blow your engine. Your radiator would seem to be fine if its still fairly new.

friend2the7's 01-25-02 08:08 PM

oh deffinatly i'v been trying to see if i already have one but it doesn't seem so. a guy that worked on my car said i have one or use to any way the shop went out of business due to employee theft mine might have got stolen(didn't know shit about rx-7's then). i believe i may have at one time cause i had 20# and my car was crazzzy fast(to me).

lets see...you are running an intake, streetport, and full exhaust, and you are asking if you should get a radiator or IC first?? thats really bright!

how about you get an ECU?? ever thought of that??

also, did you do any research before you bought the car and/or did those modifications to it?? i dont mean to sound like an ass, but its people like you that have branded the FD with an "unreliable" title.

friend2the7's 01-25-02 08:19 PM

how about you give me the money for an ecu i'm not an idiot. read my former post.

TpCpLaYa 01-25-02 08:34 PM

alright lets not git furious(hehe) but when the guy said you have an ECU he was right becuase he was probably talking of the stock ECU in the FD. But around here there is something called a 3 mod rule which basically means if ya have 3 or more mods runnin or your car ya better have a ECU or your gunna a need a new engine soon. and yes i knwo they are a shitload of money but look at it this way....spend a grand or so on something usefull for the car or spend 2-3+ grand on a new engine when ya really didnt need it in the first place. so my advice is either go very easy on the car till ya git the ECU or take off a couple things, they can always be replaced later. Its not like if ya have a stock FD it wont be fast anymore....cuz believe me it will be!....and this is coming from a man who has never been in an FD. Go figure but im sure u know of the power it has

so you are saying that you dont have the money for an ECU, but you are asking if you should get a radiator or IC. does that make sense?? a new remapped ECU is ~$700. if you want to go standalone, ~$1200. the average price of an IC, FM or SM....around $1200. if you can afford an IC, you can afford an ECU.

also, how much boost you running?? with no indication of any form of boost control, im assuming you are running upwards of 15-16 PSI. lets see...the stock IC is inefficient after 12 PSI, and the stock injectors are only good till one bar (14.7 PSI).

Have you popped off the panel to expose the ecu? Seems like you would almost have to have one in order to still be running without some sort of fuel cut. But back to your original question, I would go with the intercooler. You will pick up an ass load of power with that combined with your mods, just make sure you got that ecu upgrade. Have you decided on what type of intercooler, such as stock mount or front mount?

friend2the7's 01-26-02 01:40 AM

TpCpLaYa-he was not talking about a stock ecu he said something like a pettit rmap ecu they put all my parts thats where the guy who had it before me had the work done. And i am going easy on the car now cause i had a wreak and now i have a boost prob only getting 5#.

JoeD- the reason i was asking is because i just got a good job and i'm trying to get a schedule worked out before summer comes. yes my fuel was cutting out but only sometimes. This only lasted about a week it happened after i got my engine trans clutch and turbos the shop didn't know what was wrong but it just fixed and ran great a little rich though. you may not believe me or what ever but i have many wittness my car had 20#.

94touring- yes I have looked at the ecu i made a post on the ecu forum the ecu is the next thing i do when i get everything fixed(kit molded and paint job). not sure on fmic or stock can i do a single conversion and have a stock mount

TpCpLaYa 01-26-02 02:49 PM

yea going easy on it would be the smart thing to do here
