first drive ever
 

well I took my 7 out for its first drive yesterday and I have a few comments:

1. having only owned a hyundai accent and a subaru wagon, this thing is an f-ing rocket.

1.5. oh yeah, about how long should I wait to turn it off after light driving?

2. The sound is magnificant, load and powerful but not annoying.

3. I almost cried when I put $30 worth of gas in it and it made it to maybe 2/3rds full.

4. The ride is incredible (has tein springs and faulken tires though) super tight and responsive, the rack has like 0 play in it.

5. I thought I would hate the shifter but it was so cool, aside from the fact that I am used to moving it alot further and kept going from 2nd to 5th.

6. I could go on and on, but it suffices to say I bought this car to have some fun fixing it up then sell it but now I think I'll be keeping it.

Some suggestions:
- Read the contents of this thread if you haven't already.

- When doing light driving, I start/stop the car as I please. Since my car is mostly all stock, it isn't prone to flooding problems. When driving hard, wait at least 5 min before hitting any significant or sustained boost, and cruise lightly for the last few minutes of any driving with boost.

- Where in PA are you?

- be careful with the 2-3 shift - hitting 5th hard will shatter the 5th synchro. It's usually fixable for the price of a synchro, but you have to drop the tranny and pull the extension housing. It's better to shift wisely.

- don't let the tank get near empty and take a long hard turn - rumor is you can starve the engine if the fuel is low enough to slosh away from the fuel intake, and blow the engine. Apparently 1/4 full is as low as you should go if on the track to avoid this risk.
