Finally installed my Axiom Autosports rear harness bar

It's *much* beefier than the tanabe bar that just came off :)
I had hit a snag on my install b/c the stock nuts that hold the bar ends on arent threaded all the way to the bottom, and with the thicker metal on the axiom bar mounting points I wasn't able to grab any threads with them. After some searching I came upon the proper m10x1.25 flanged nuts with thread all the way to the bottom and in the proper grade. I actually have a bunch extra if anyone needs them....they'll come in handy for the front bar in the event I need to shim my front bar higher to give me more clearance at the greddy elbow. Install was a breeze, fitment was perfect. You do need a massive allen key (3/4?) to bolt the bar to the ends. Very shiny, I'm happy with it. Now to go harness shopping :D https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...6&d=1206901462 https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...7&d=1206901462 |
looks great! i'm still meaning to buy one of these...too many things on the list though.
i wonder if he'll be designing a new front strut bar as well? it would be nice to have a matching set! |
It's hard to notice that nice harness bar when there are pimp seats distracting you. ;)
|
yeah, those seats are pimp
|
looks awesome!
|
you need to powdercoat it flat black. shiny is playyyyyed out ;)
|
or cerma coat it. lol
|
Eh, I love the polished look, in person it looks fantastic set against all the oem black plastics. Chris Carlisi snapped a shot when I was visiting him and his 3 rotor FD today, maybe he'll post it up when he's not ripping through the lincoln tunnel with a perma-grin on his face

OMG OMG, Like OMG!

Those PINK SEATS are like SOOOOO TOTALLY AWESOME!! :gayboy: :gayboy: :gayboy: It's the freakin' flash that washes out the color, does it to my paint too. Yup, they're the Spirit R seats......Ramy at FD Newbie really pulled out all the stops to get them for me, they were basically brand new---the foam hadnt even developed a wear pattern yet :icon_tup: |
Car is looking good Rich!

Those PINK SEATS are like SOOOOO TOTALLY AWESOME!! :gayboy: :gayboy: :gayboy: Its red dude, not pink. Look at the paint of his car, it looks pink too. The flash from the camera puts too much light causing the red to look pink. That happens to me everytime i take pics of my car. So i just lessen the exposure off my camera settings. Btw, it looks good, very beefy and shiney. |
Rich,
As much as you have invested in your car, why didn't you go with a 4-pt rollbar? |

Rich, that looks very nice.
I might need to copy you. :D |
looks awesome :) what harnesses are you looking into now? ^_^
|
Rich, is that curly wire plugged into your cigarette lighter a radar detector? I can't imagine you speeding... :)
|
Rich using any excuse to pimp his seats. hehe I would too if I had them and will be at Deals gap when I do. Car is looking good BTW see you in week or so.

Hey Kyle,
I'm trying to keep it more of a street car, if you can believe that :D if you want a street car, dont put harneses in. Or at least make sure you retain the stock seat belt. Ive removed my seatbelts and have had 4 and 6 point harnesses in my car (currently 6) and trying to instruct every person thats not beein in your car before how to put the harness on is a pain in the ass. Added to that you have to sit there with the door open so your elbow can bend enough to plug the shoulder straps in, and its just a big pain for a street car... |

You do realize that the seat belts will help you in a roll over where harnesses may have a negative effect without a roll bar. SUCKA!

I only plan to use the harnesses on the track, and certainly don't plan on ever rolling over. Keep it up and I'll make sure that your diff is shipped to Madagascar

mahjik I understand what you're saying. Is that speculation or have you seen or read proof of this in an rx7?

It's not really RX7-specific. I saw an E36 M3 roll over outside turn 3 at Summit main several years ago. No cage, the roof collapsed severely on the passenger side since it went down first (rolled to the outside off a left-hand turn). Both driver and pass were wearing harnesses with factory seats. The driver walked away since the roof held up pretty well on his side, but the passenger was taken to the hospital with neck trauma as the roof collapsed onto his head. Not sure what happened to him after that, but it took them at least 10 minutes just to get him out of the car onto a stretcher. During that time, you could see that the harness held his body upright in the seat, his head just had nowhere to go. Having seen that, I would never suggest using a harness without a cage or at least a rollbar. A rollbar would probably be safe, but at least for me with a helmet on, I'm already touching the ceiling so there isn't much room there. |

I installed my harness bar some time ago, and I must say that fitment was superb.
|
wow this is some serious subject matter we are discussing here. how interesting and a great point without a complete safety equipment ie; cage roll w/ harness andd god knows what else. what really is the point on having just the harness!!!!!!

I have run without a rollbar and the M2 harness bar for a few years. I have never flipped my car during or prior to the harnesses being installed. I do have a Kirk 4pt rollbar now though. Now, I'm not saying "I did it, so it's safe for everyone". It's more for education. I do my best to provide enough information for people to make their own "informed" choice which is why I recommend to people not to use harnesses without a rollbar/cage. So, harnesses without a rollbar/cage... do people do it? Yes. Should they? Probably not however there are a lot of things people do with cars that they probably shouldn't as well. ;) |
lol +1

I still don't understand why Rich painted his car pink to match the seats????

yeah, I could focus on that bar about as well as if a naked girl had her tits hanging over it. |
reminds me of Labreck's "pink FD" quips with regard to my car, without the right lighting or a mediocre camera, any red car can look "pink" (including his old Z06)
|
okay i still have a question??? where and how much???
