finally fixed!
 

Well guys,

Some of you might know the problems ive had ever since i bought my car and I'm happy to say they are pretty much fixed. My idle is pretty much perfect except for some random bouncing. Boost is at a perfect 10-8-10 (sometimes 11, kinda scary while watching since 11 is close to 12 lol). And i installed the polyurethane motor mounts from broken09 which are really great. I think the vibration is really overrated. It only vibrates at 1k rpm and its perfect after that or below that.

But of course, an rx7 can never be problem free so heres whats happening now...

At night when all the lights are on, the idle gets a little weird. Sometimes it idles perfectly sometimes it starts bouncing very little at around 900-1000. Also last night it did a very weird thing. I started the car and it started bouncing at like 500-600 but wouldnt die. I drove it for a while and it was better. What could cause this?

One more thing is that, my mechanic said that before i was running so rich that it probably burned my main cat so I guess judging by the smell of my car im running no cats. Should i be worried about my boost? Ive done a few runs and it stays at 10-11 psi. Does boost ever randomly spike out of nowhere or is it supposed to always happen. I'm thinking of disconnecting the wastegate/pre-control connectors to run at 7psi until i get a pfc. is this necessary or should i just leave it the way it is?

check the battery, have it load tested and turn on all the acc, lights, ac, stereo etc and see if the alt is putting out ~14 volts. mods??

mods are dp, exhaust, streetport, and grounds. I just got a new battery and alternator like a few weeks ago.

this happened to me last week check the map sensor, make sure it is still connected to the UIM, i would put my money on it being that

Map sensor is connected to UIM. Dont think its that.

do people usually run a street port with a stock ecu? maybe thats the problem? just guessing...

yea i was thinking some of the problems can be cured by a pfc... but until then i need to figure out if im safe running it like this or should i limit the boost to 7 psi. Also can tuning be the culprit for the idle problem?

check your plugs/wires, make sure you have changed your fuel filter recently, get a pfc, any little change in the flow characteristics of the engine will result in a lean condition, and from the looks of it you've changed the flow characteristics of your engine a hell of a lot, with the street port, downpipe, catback, and you said probably no cat.

drop boost to 7psi, just to be safe, you don't want that (i'm guessing) recent street port motor to go pop.

i was running my streetported motor built by the same guy as he had his built by... i was running 10lbs daily and now that i have a pfc, im bumping it up to 14.... but i dont see why 10lbs is an issue... the ecu can handle 10 lbs and its not that big of a port..... ??? someone enlighten me :)

10 pounds on that motor is a different volume of air than 10 pounds with the stock motor. an engine is an over-glorified air pump, the easier it is for you to get air/fuel mix in and out, the more power you will get. If you make it easier to pull air in and push it out, that means at the same 10psi of boost, you're moving alot more air, because the 7 has a MAP sensor (manifold air pressure), not a MAF (mass airflow sensor). If it's easier to push air through the engine, it takes alot more volume to make the MAP read 10psi than it would under stock conditions. that's a jumbled explination, but i hope it helps
