That looks pretty good. I would like to see it in the car.

rx7_lover 10-29-04 06:59 PM

sweet. on the finished picture, it has somewhat different texture from the one before (right after rubberc coating with 'wet' looking). is that because the rubber coating dried completely on the final picture?

AREITU 10-29-04 08:16 PM

Very nice. What brand texturing are you using, by the way?

apneablue 10-29-04 09:15 PM

Looks awesome. I so want to do that to my car. And the stock radio and cd player has stopped working. Hmmmm

jon88se 11-09-04 10:24 AM

How come you masked all the buttons and knobs rather than disassembling before painting??

ejmack1 11-09-04 11:29 AM

Because i tried having it dissasembled the first time... and when you try to reinstall the buttons, there is too much texture material and the buttons rub.... so this seemed to be the best way, and it turned out to work great.

fastcarfreak 11-09-04 11:43 AM

looks great, also curious what is gonna be the main function of it? (tuning, show, or just watch movies :) )

I see...it did come out really nicely!! I guess you could have just slightly trimmed the holes for the buttons as well, but it you got no over-spray then it's a job well done ;)

I'm not a fan of the portion only because now you dont have an indicator of where you are with the A/C settings, otherwise its nice.

I still wanna see a backside pic, even though you said you were fighting with mounting issues.

KaiFD3S 11-09-04 02:58 PM

any new pics installed in the car

LOL i dont have a/c ;) so i could careless about that... Plus after 3 years of owning an FD i know where the settings are....

also a small vinyl overlay on that part would be easy if i ever needed it, i just like it rounded out.

Why not remove the knobs completely? Put gauges or something else in there instead. Maybe a flux capacitor so you can go back in time ;)

still need to control the location and temp and the fan setting.

just dont need the a/c button.

TwinTurbo93 11-09-04 09:30 PM

I maybe missed it above but is it a tuch screen monitor or regular?
Also two guys asked before, what are you gonna used in conjuction with?, onboard computer?, or ECU tunning/datalogic? or both???

The reason I'm asking is b/c I gonna do something similar in future, build a small onboard PC for multi purposes, movies, music, GPS navi., datalogic tunning and whole nine yards...

:peace:

HedgeHog 11-09-04 11:11 PM

cripes those mini itx stuff adds up to be quite costly. where will u mount the case for CD/DVD access?

ejmack1 11-10-04 01:41 AM

just wait and see.... and it will be used for Movies, MP3's, navigation, tuning, blah, blah blah, porn, blah, blah... and some other stuff...

apex_sideway 11-10-04 02:08 AM

Poooorn . . . mmmMmmMmmmmMm :D

JaNusSolSumnus 11-10-04 12:52 PM

Yes, I'd like to see your final setup for the sysem as well. I'm building an aluminum chassis with rails to slide into the radio rails -- saying my motherboard will fit, havent measured.

I'm using a iTX 'shuttle' style mobo with a 2.4Ghz P4 + 256mb RAM and onboard vid/aud

I still have to figure out how I'm going to get the computer to interface with the Bose system, any ideas on that one? I have the Schosche adapter still for my current radio so I'm sure I'll need it again for this adventure. Power on for the amps may be tricky though. :(

I'll be using my system for: GPS, music, flicks, wardriving, and tuning (down the road PFC+dataloggit)

For those that know me well on this board, I tend to work on a project then get "un" motivated.... my rims that I am getting in today should motivate me to work on it more :rlaugh:
