Finally Bought an FD! Now what?

Yes! I finally bought an FD, a 17 year old FD owner, not bad eh? After I sold my FC, I journeyed to the DSM realm for a few months, I stuckw ith a 95 GST, but once your hooked on a rotor its hard to go back to motor. So I Sold the DSM and I bought myself this 93' FD. 5 Speed, Red exterior (perfect paint) Black interior (well maintained) Powere everything. 67,502 Miles on the Odometer. Bone stock, never modified. Came out to $12,999. Is that a good price? Rememebr in FL everything is a little more expensive.

The only down side is, it has yucky 16" PRIME chrome rims with 205 55 R16 Goodyear tires all around, which takes us to my main question. Ive always loved the BMW style rims, and I was wondering if anyone knew the company that maybe made replicas or lookalikes. IM looking for either 17's or 18's with the biggest offset possibe. I want them to go as wide in as the factory limits will allow it to. Im looking to maybe be able to fit 265 40's or 265 30's in the back, and I don't know what in the front. I don't know much about FD's, so I want you guy to tell me where I can get rims like those? and what the factory limits are. Last but not least, I want some GOOD exhaust and Intake. (Basic mods) just advise me guys.

Thanks for looking, I have pictures but I don't know how to post them, if anyone wants to help me, Id be very grateful. Thanks again!

BMW style? which ones do you mean? there's companies that make replicas of almost anything.

HKS makes some good exhaust and Mega Flow Intake.
That's what I have for my FD3S

Where in miami are you located? Im 17 and drive a red fd also. See you around.

MazdaRx7Racer4Life 12-10-03 05:30 PM

Im from Hialeah, I head up on fridays to towers. maybe ill go this friday, not sure. Thanks for the posts guys, I guess Ill search.

highspeed101 12-10-03 06:30 PM

fds are less expensive in florida and texas than anywhere else in the country. When I was searching for my car in 1999 I saw tons of fds in fl for 10 grand that had about 60k miles on them...fds with the same miles were going for 15k in NY.

darkness 12-10-03 07:24 PM

Yeah 12,999 is an excellent price considering everything is well with the engine and turbos. I paid 16K for mine with 50k on the clock.

SVT Squasher 12-10-03 10:57 PM

Yep you got a good deal I paid 16k for mine 65k on the odometer and 15k on rebuild. Tire size I have 275/40/17 on the rear and I am lowered 2", front I have 235/45/17 it had 245/45/17 but they rubbed so I rolled my finders and even after rolling the finders I still ahd to go smaller up front.

Welcome to the FD world. 17 with a FD one small piece of advise for you young buck. "DONT KILL YOURSELF"

Sparkey 12-10-03 11:02 PM

good deal definetly...start with intake, dp, exhaust, radiator, ast, and then worry about wheels and such. I live in tx so I know about the heat like you have in fl so do your reliability first and save the heartache and money from a new motor which if you havent had one in the car yet you will need one eventually.

DigDug 12-10-03 11:19 PM

Start by replacing the fuel filter. Then change the oil. Then also the trans and diff fluids. Finally, learn to drive.

Fd3BOOST 12-10-03 11:28 PM

Start with a whorendous body kit. Then move on to adding the mid pipe with no fuel adjustments.
Then wreck the car on an ice patch while you practicing drifting for your new friends. Its a no brainer :)
Works everytime :)

RonKMiller 12-10-03 11:33 PM

A casket with racing stripes and a chrome Infini logo?

elmo908 12-11-03 01:06 AM

BBS makes nice rims check them out.
