Fighter's Garage battery

I didn't want to thread jack the AST thread....

I notice that Fighters Garage is out of stock of their AST. I'm waiting to hear back from Kinetik on his.

I'm wondering about the Fighters Garage battery tray you have in your photo. I like the idea of reducing the weight and opening up the engine bay but wondering if you have had any problems with the battery capacity? My FD always starts up on first crank, but if I ever run into problems I'd hate to have my battery die before the engine starts.

Also, how easy is the install? I'm pretty much a mechanical idiot.

Install is a no brainer you unbolt the stock tray and bolt in the new tray. The PC-680 when kept properly works fine. However you need to monitor its voltage and not let it drop below 9-10 volts. Also if you let it sit for a bit at the very least unlpug the batter. A battery tender is not a bad idea either.

Thanks. I may go for it at some point. It would be nice to cut a fair bit of weight in the front. Easier than going on a diet.

I remember reading somewhere that it also increases air flow in the engine bay.

I was looking into this battery but don't have a nice chunk of change lying around..

yeah i recently bough this, just waiting on shipping. it seems like a pretty good kit for the money and it opens up the engine bay a bit. i have a self jumpstarter if it dies too.

Just a word of caution if you let the PC-680 drain much below 9 volts even a self starter wouln't bring it back.

I'll admit that car batteries are something that I just tend to forget about. It's not like on my sailboat where maintenance of the batteries is a major consideration. I know all the expensive equipment I have on the sailboat to both monitor and maintain my batteries, but what do you use to make sure your PC-680 doesn't drop below 9v?
