FD3S - How addicted are you?

This car is like a drug to me. Seriously. When im just sitting around I ALWAYS have to be doing something with it. Even if its just sitting outsite with a rag wiping off finger prints, or detailing the inside.. Hell even just sitting in the driver seat and losing myself... I seriously think i need help... Even when im not working on it. or detailing it. or just fucking stairing at it, im on ebay looking for parts, Or on one of my many bookmarked sites looking for good deals. Shit man i even balance my checkbook around buying parts for it! Is anyone else like this? As infatuated with their FD as i am? Maybe we can start a Support Group!! :bigthumb:

So explain what you do with your 7 when your not driving it or fixing a problem with it.

So be warned new FD owners! YOU WILL BE SUCKED INTO THIS HOLE!!!

BoostFrenzy 06-24-05 02:25 AM

happens with every car i own

a3dcadman 06-24-05 02:41 AM

i know exactly what you mean.

i love driving my 7; its like we become one entitiy and no doubt its at the top of my list for the ultimate rush. mind you, i dont beat the car, but i do run her hard occasionally. my girlfriends usual comment is: youre always out there petting your black bitch. to which i reply: she doesnt bitch at me or complain, shes beautiful with sleek sexy curves, and shes like a screaming banshee when i want her to perform. in the long run the 7 is probably a lot cheaper than maintaining a gf.

then again, perhaps we just have too much time on our hands.

i know the feeling, but my love is my t2. Ill go outside to work on it, even if nothing is wrong with it. For instance im installing an electric fan just because i get bored (just moved into my new appt, and my tv and stuff hasnt arrived yet)

fd3s7007 06-24-05 04:07 AM

i've had the car now for 5 years and i still can't seem to get enough of her. I hardly drive the FD now as my office is like less than 3 miles down the road so i've started taking things off and reenforcing them ie poor man carbon fibre LOL. Got the undertray sitting outside waiting for me to work on it over the weekend. WHich reminds me, i got to pick up a crate of beer on me way home today!!

apex_sideway 06-24-05 04:13 AM

Haha, my car is down right now and everytime i walk into the house through the garage i stare at it and think, "i'm so lucky to own this car" :D WTF is wrong with me?!

Black Magic 06-24-05 05:02 AM

I fixed the main problem with my FD... Sat for 2 years since that main problem occured...

Lemme guess...the motor swap? [offtopic] Still haven't seen you out around here...whatcha waiting for? [/offtopic]

First time I saw it, it took me 5 days to buy it. It was definitely lust turned into love. Most fun car I've ever owned and I seriously doubt there will be anything that can top it.

papsmagu 06-24-05 06:50 AM

yeah, instead of leaving through the front door, i leave thru the garage just to look at it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RX 4 Speed 06-24-05 07:44 AM

lol... funny thread, but oh so true :)

We're all addicted, some of us just won't admit it. I'll admit I am though! When I'm not driving it, I am detailing both outside and in. Not really modding it though, just meticulous routing maintenance. Plus, I make sure it never sees rain... and it's never parked near ANY other car. After every drive, she gets detail sprayed if there are any bugs. She gets dusted before and after every drive as well. Plus, I think I have taken over 500 pictures of her in the last year.

I need help!!! :)

oneflytrini 06-24-05 07:56 AM

Everytime I leave it in a public parking lot, as Im walking away, I look back and say to myself "fuck yea!" with a big smile :bigthumb:

jdhuegel1 06-24-05 08:55 AM

Um.. It's a nice car and all - but the obsession thing is just crazy.

To be quite honest, the car gets on my nerves just as much as it gratifies..

BigAl65 06-24-05 08:59 AM

Yea, I'm with you jd......I do love it, but its caused me to age prematurely......

mark57 06-24-05 09:21 AM

I'm addicted to FDs and I ramble about it. FD is the best looking, handling, braking, and overall best performing car I've owned. Very easy to upgrade and tune. I've driven a number of different cars. Only the Audi S4 comes close to it. And, I really like my Corrado overall, but the FD blows it away.

1QWIK7 06-24-05 12:27 PM

haha i used to be the same way man!!! and i still am however i grew out of it...

i guess cause im trying to bring another love in my life..*cough cough viper cough cough * :)

but i still ocassionally search ebay or this forum for deals on things i was gonna get or have gotten already but need them again..if not, then im always cleaning my car or just looking at it..or ill make an excuse for me to drive it like putting 5 dollars gas or to buy lottery tickets!! hahaha

Force13B 06-24-05 12:27 PM

Every pay check i get, i think i have enough for this but i wount have enough for food. Then i figure out how i can scrape by on the food i have in the house. I park 5 miles from where i'm going so no one parks near me. When i'm at work i go out and check on him to make sure its still there. Its a sickness we all need serious help

IM THE SAME WAY!!! like if im at the mall or something with my gf and were walking away.... i turn my neck and just stare the car as we walk away from it as if it was some beautiful super model or something and i always hear a smart-ass remake from her like "you love her more than you love me" or something like that but yeah im totally addicted to the beast. ever since my cousin introduced me to his fd back in 1994 i just fell in love with them and didnt get mine till december 22 2004. i had an n/a fc for my first car and it was really fun to drive too but just nothing like the fd. i spend at least 3-4 hours every saturday just cleaning the beast. i take longer ways home just to drive it longer. gas money dont matter to me well sometimes. i come through my garage rather than the front door just to look at it. i dont run yellowl ights, i jut want to stop so when people pull up beside me i want to show off my pride.

i love my fd

onelife2stories 06-24-05 12:33 PM

yeah. she loves me. we talk, we go places together. i buy her things. she teases me. hell, she even lets me ride her. she has this thing, i dont know what it is about her, but she turns me on and excites me like no othe woman can or ever will. there is just something about her; when she purs, when she growls, when she even screams. she drives me crazy. and i love her.

i <3 you Roxxx7

lol, thats in my aim info.

manny34711 06-24-05 12:39 PM

i just put that on my aim info too, thx!

prrex4ever 06-24-05 01:30 PM

WOW! I thought it was only me. I can't walk away from her without looking back a couple of times. My EX-wife always said, you love that car more than me. She gave me a ultimatium, the car or me. That's one of the many reasons she is my EX.

haha, A good friend of mine got rid of a pretty quick S4 for an FD. :) I agree though, the S4 is one hell of a car, even if it's a little porky.

tsmysak1 06-24-05 02:55 PM

And I thought I was sick

...but obviously I am normal.

I was thinking about posting the same thing last night...Ha!

I am quite concerned about this whole FD addiction thing. It has even bothered my sleep. Last night I dreamed there was some liquid coming out of my exhaust pipe and I was worried it was anti-freeze. I think I woke up in a cold sweat.....I am not joking here...

Even if I got no where to go, I will slip out to the garage to sit in the car, like some drug user looking for another fix, and I found myself being thankful that the car was actually better than sex, because you could go for a drive anytime. Is that ill?

I think I am going to seek professional help......or maybe sell the FD before she lays down on me....

Your so adicted you'd couldn't sell it. Guy would come by to look at it and have a little stain on his shirt, and you would be like he's not good enough. Evan if you did find someone right for the car you would cry for weeks when it was gone.

FDNewbie 06-24-05 03:22 PM

It's not an addiction. It's more of an obsession. I'm obsessed too. Heck, my study breaks are what? Coming to the forum...checking ebay for RX7 parts, reading about this or that re: the FD, etc etc. It's well past an established obsession. And to make matters worse, I want another one... LOL

KaiFD3S 06-24-05 03:25 PM

all my extra $$ goes to my FD
car is never dirty
have to look at it everyday
always thinking what I can buy for it

does this qualify me as being addicted

WarspeedFD 06-24-05 11:32 PM

I have an obsession with mine too. My wife thinks I'm crazy, my daughter thinks I'm crazy, my neighbor thinks I'm crazy, hell even my dog thinks I'm crazy. I stock up on Meguirres wet wax. You know the one you use between washes.

manny34711 06-24-05 11:54 PM

rofl even your dog thinks your crazy hahaahha

sounds like my friend Aleem, he named his pitbull "boost"

he got it when it was a baby and the dog always revolved around the car. serious that dog has like never missed a project Aleem has done to my car or his and he guards the cars with his life. when ever anyone tries to get near the cars he gets up and wants to kill you. hes is rotary inspired

RX7Wishing 06-25-05 12:05 AM

Wow...you inspire me lol. I'm terrified of having too much pressure from a family, wife, kids, etc in the future, to ditch the FD.

jic 06-25-05 01:10 AM

never liked a car so much before

manny34711 06-25-05 02:23 AM

yes im 17 and own an fd. my first car at 15 years of age was an n/a fc. ever since i was a kid my dad's side of the family raced rx2's and shit and ive jut been around rotaries alot. my family got me a bmw 325i for my 16 year old birth day and i just didnt enjoy it as much as i did compared to the fc so i asked them if it was ok to sell the car to get a really nice turbo 2 or a decent fd and get it relieable and work off of it from there or maybe a blown motor and just port one but any way... back to the topic :)

twinturborx7pete 06-25-05 02:39 AM

yah definately an obsession...

I always check back as i walk away, i always stare at my FD in my garage, hell I think i look at too many pictures of my cars as it is!

I'm not real bad about the money thing, cuz well i've learned my lessons, but if i had enough money not to care... well i'd have some sick FDs..

haha i was wondering the same thing

Larz 06-25-05 11:26 PM

All of my girlfriends have had a problem with my "other girl". That explains why I'm 24 and not married. You must share me with my car. Small price to pay the way I see it.

jeff p 06-26-05 12:47 AM

Man we all got it bad. No Twelve step program can cure the FD addiction (LOL) .. and yes your check book will suffer.

Mazda99Nikon 06-26-05 11:42 AM

Here's my level of obsession. Some people cry about the way their FD is depreciating in value. I don't care if the value drops to $100. I'll be able to go out and buy more, more, more. Might be nice to have a black one, a red one, a yellow one, a ....
