FD3S Differential
 

Is the FD differential really bad? Hypothetically if I could get one for $125 shipped, and was going to use the car as autoX/drift/daily driver, would it be a good or bad choice? I think so but someone said that its terrible and now im curious.

what about drifting?

Driftings fine your not putting a huge load on it. The reason drag racing breaks them is becouse when you run sliks or drag radial and you rev your engine into the power band and drop the clutch well those tires are very sticky and grab hard so it always brakes the weakest link.
If you run all the right suspension and braces they tend to stay together well.

what about functionality? i mean is it good for drifting? I know some people use the helical because its more predictable

well truthfully a independant rear suspension is made for traction and handeling. Drifting is all about not having traction so if you really want the thing to lose it going around cornners with out breaking you can A. install and fav a solid rear axel housing or B. dial in a ton of negitive camber.

You want a clutch type in good working order for drift.
