FD will not stay running. Backfired and pops. Throttle does nothing when depressed.
 
Car fires up perfect with no throttle but will then proceed to back fire and pop. Depressing the throttle does nothing. The car is running on a adaptronic modular ecu.

fuel system includes radium rails, ID1050x Bosch 2200 injectors.
Ignition system is stock
motor was just rebuilt by me with no miles on it, due to my current issue.
compression is between 104 and 109 on all faces both front and rear.

I’m at my wits end and am very close to taking it down to angel motorsports as its pretty close, but I’d like to at least attempt to get it before I swallow my pride and let a pro do it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I can also provide a video if anyone thinks this may help.

Are you running the base map? I recall hearing that Adaptronic's base map.. leaves much to be desired.

I have tried it with the base map yes. But, I have been working with Shawn from Tuned by Shawn who provided a different map. Both yield the same exact issue and I believe his map had some different fueling if I remember correctly.

You might want to try a different tuner if the map you were provided is that inefficient. Adaptronic is definitely not considered a high end ecu, but they can absolutely be made to work. Personally I'd never spend money on one, but since you've got it you might as well try to make it work.

I recently set up an adaptronic and didnt have any of the issues you are describing. Its possible you may have an issue with something mechanically or electrically. Have you gone over all your sensors to verify they're plugged in correctly and working?

Unlikely, but are you 100% sure all the connectors are plugged into the correct injectors? Seems like you had to modify the harness slightly for your upgraded injectors so maybe this is a possibility?
I've had similar symptoms to what you're describing on a 13b renesis when upgrading to 2400cc injectors and accidentally swapped the plugs on 2 of the injectors.
Granted, the renesis has 6 injectors so it's slightly easier to screw up than the FD's 4. Worth checking for peace of mind anyway.

So will the car sit there and idle happily, just won't take any throttle?

Can you let the car totally warm up? If so will it still do it then?

Do you have a Wideband? Can you tell if it's going rich or lean when you stab the throttle?

So I read through about 27 pages of threads the other night hoping to find that needle in the haystack I had not already tried. I came across a thread that talked about the o-rings at the pump going bad and not keeping pressure after the pump primes. I have a TT supra pump and figure I haven't checked it so I might as well. Come to find out, the seals were doing nothing. Needless to say I cut that little o-ring section out of the pump hanger and just ran 3/8 line from the pump to the hard line in the pump.

In addition this this, I did notice that several times going to start the car, that the TPS sensor would take 45 or so seconds to even register on the software as on. Now my thinking with this is that the sensor may have not had a good connection or could possible be going bag. So I pressed on the connector with a bit of force. I went back and noticed the ECU was able to registered the voltage as soon as it was keyed on and correctly register open and closed throttle.

After all that, the car now starts, runs well, but will not idle (have to give it a bit of throttle). Nothing weird here as I am still on little to no tune (base adaptronic tune). My real concern here is that the TPS is registering (but is it internment), by unplugging it, would this cause that crazy idle, dimming lights, pops bangs condition? I have a good feeling it would but unfortunately this car has never been fully functional from the day I bought it so I am unsure.

Making progress!

Unfortunately you're in so much new territory with so many things that troubleshooting is going to be interesting. I'm not sure how the Adaptronic reacts with no TPS but that is possible. The TPS is one of the primary inputs to any ECU, if you take that away the car is going to have some issues for sure.

Others can chime in that have more experience with the Adaptronic. I would imagine there would be a base map that would be good enough for the car to start, idle, and drive nicely.

I do agree the adaptronic base map should be fairly decent at least to the point of idle and partial drivability. I’m currently waiting on a brand new wideband sensor to check AFRs and see if that is the reason for the poor idle conditions. I’m also waiting on a hellcat fuel pump to rule that out as well. And to support the rest of my fuel system.
