FD white smoke after WOT shifts past 6k

I'm getting some white smoke & sometimes a pop if i shift past 6K on my new non-seq setup. I know white smoke is coolant however I'm not having any coolant leaking or overheating. My temps are always awesome.

After talking to a few people I know I do kick flames *midpipe with ported wastegate* however its pretty noticeable. It goes away though. It kinda follows but doesn't continue. If that makes any sense. I'll try to take a video today/tomorrow.

Thanks Guys.

Is your coolant level slowly diminishing?

I sometimes get the pop too when i do a 1st gear WOT to 2nd.

But i dont notice any smoke when i do WOT pulls thank god.

Are you twins original? Might be a sign that they are on the way out.

not original..but they only had 40k on them... and they weren't a daily driver. My coolant level has remained fine for months. No issues what-so-ever. HOWEVER I did have oil line that went out & spilled oil all over under the car *before i switched to the new turbos the other week* etc... and it was replaced. however I still need to clean that out. Oil meter line or whatever. And I had a cracked coolant line that was replaced as well. So i'm thinking its cause I'm catless or leftover residue or something. I dunno.

Hmm, pretty strange. I would monitor your coolant level just in case anyway.

I remember when i bought my used PFS catback. My first WOT pull in 2nd gear i had black smoke ALLLLL over the road, i was like noooo i blew something!!!!

Then realized later that inside the exhaust was CAKED with black residue. I did more WOT and less and less smoke came out.

Fast foward 4 years later, its all good now :D

I also get some white smoke after wot. The backfires are normal after wot. Sometimes I get a lot of white/black smoke after a big backfire after goin wot and not shifting (keeping the rpm close to redline and not clutching) . I think its all normal but maybe were both experiencing signs of turbo failure.

well a friend following me back from the races reported backfire/flame then the white smoke. Everytime white smoke...cause of flame. So maybe thats it.

I've had similar issues , my car's running pig rich , like 10 a/f and I know when I shift after driving it hard I will get flames .. at night ,

today during an auto-x I was told I was spewing aloto f white smoke after my shifts

My coolant level had needed to be filled up twice maybe , but I replaced my radiator , very recently and this weekend was the first time I really took the car out since I did the radiator swap . I figured it could be air in the radiator , but my friend says its a water seal going .

before I go into taking apart my turbos to see if its a turbo water seal . could the puffs of white smoke , be because of running rich ? the car hasn't been properly tuned yet .

I will get a tune before I go and take everything apart but I'm just looking at it from every angle.

P.S. I just realized this thing is about 3 years old

Are you premixing? What is your fuel setup like. Water/Meth? Could be running really rich. Maybe sticky injectors.

I am premixing .5 oz per gallon of fuel , maybe a bit richer this last fillup because I left my measuring thing .

no meth yet . I have it installed just waiting to weld the bung onto the post intercooler pipe.

but hte person who noticed it said it was to white to be oil . so I dont know I didn't see it for myself.

if you are running rich it could be unburnt fuel in your exhaust it could be the extra fuel burning off as exhaust temps are raising. or it could be one of your turbo seals going out.

Tem120 04-16-12 12:23 PM

secondary turbo seal going out I guess since it happens on higher rpms when the secondary opens up

but thats kind of weird lol isnt hte primary usually the one to go lol

hes running non-seq turbos, it could be the primary or secondary turbo if the turbo is going bad. OP do an easy test remove elbow to Throttle body and see if there is oil in there or in the intercooler, if so turbos are shot, if not i still believe its excess fuel sitting in the exhaust.
