FD weird smell from under the hood after it warms up
I started to notice the smell after I replaced a clutch master cylinder and some fluid spilled in the drivers side carpet. The smell is coming from the turbo side of the motor and there are no leaks on that side of the motor whatsoever.
I am not sure what the smell is and no one seems to know what it could be. It does not smell like oil, gear oil, brake fluid or coolant. If anyone has had this issue please advice on what it could be. |
rotten egg smell? Does it smell sweet? Make sure there's no mouse or some kind of dead animal under the hood =P.

na nothing rotten. It it s strong smell like oil but nothing i have smelled before. If i am beating on the motor hard the smells gets stronger.

possibly a clogged cat? i remember a FD that came in having similar problems, it was a nasty smell that we could not figure out. but after taking the cat out we realized it was clogged and burning up.

I have a downpipe and mid pipe and an HKS carbon fiber exhaust. LOL
Dont think its the exhaust |
Is your downpipe heat-wrapped? I started getting a weird smell in one of my FDs after the heat wrap. It went away eventually.

probably cooking the rat nest on the manifold area.

Make sure you're not burning a hose or anything around that turbo area. Even though you don't see "smoke", doesn't mean nothing is wrong. If it smells weird that's not normal. Go check it out.
That being said where do you have your vents set at? Towards your feet? Maybe you're smelling your feet as the vents are blowing the air to it, then rising up to your face lol. Idk |
