Hi Gadd/Paul, Thanks

Yeah thats the one I refered to as the buttonwillow Rx7, they use the series 1 rx7suspension parts, ie solid axle etc, I'm after a chassis design to suit that can have the FD suspension attached or use custom A arms etc, obvoiusly the car would have a fibreglass shell as with the sevensonly type cars,

I have seen pictures of space frame FD Rx7 running in america in GT3, someone must build these chassis????????

The people that make the tube frame chassis RX7's just don't handout blueprints. That basically negates their business. Your best bet is to find a local fabricator who has built tube frame chassis before (not necessarily based on the RX7 layout), and tell him (or her) what you would like to do. Then start working out the details. Here's one to take a look at:

Mahjik,

I realise that I would need to pay for the plans of the tube chassis, the reason I ask is that I want to build the chassis myself, not pay some exorbitant price for someone materials & labour, I have the skills ie weld & fab, but need a base to start from, cheers.

Typically with things like that, it's not a matter of money. I doubt you are going to find that magic piece of paper to tell you how to do it. The guys who do it have done a LOT of trial an error to come up with what they do. I doubt they'll put a price tag on it unless you are buying the whole car.

My suggestion, go talk to someone who has built a tube frame chassis; tell them what you want to do; and have them give you suggestions on how to begin. If you already know how to begin, quit posting and start building. ;)

If you're serious, you could try contacting John(??) Keene > Kieth Carling, through the Australian Sports Sedan Association who has a S6. The only Mazda components are the roof, scuttle and door frames - powered by a Nissan with a torque tube connected to the Hewland in the arse. The guy who drew it up may still have the drawings - although based on past experience, have my doubts (def not CAD for him!). Even if you do your own fab, won't be an inexpensive exercise.

Another possibility is Dick Ward in WA, who did a run of FC spaceframes for both the local market and Indonesia when the Suhartos were in power...few minor modifications in the scheme of things and you'd probably have your FD.
