FD rx7 no crank, nothing, tried everything!
 

1993 touring drove fine parked now for the first time in 28yrs of ownership no crank, no start.

checked archives and bypassed clutch switch, and the security alarm relay in the kicker panel. Pulled and tested the starter. Checked all the fuses and battery is fully charged. I also checked the ignition switch and it's all good.

The car has some mods done by a shop, I thought I would mention that bc there are extra wiring I'm sure, not just stock wiring. When I was bypassing the relay I noticed a med gauge ( not sure what gauge) black wire hanging there. It's a ground because one end is screwed to the body of the car inside the upper kicker panel. The other end of this black wire looks like it broke off or it was cut.

could this be my issue?

Check the plug on fuse B2 in the main fuse box to the right of the engine. Mine slipped out once and I got no crank/ no start.

Not even a click from the solenoid when you turn the key? If not, have you checked at the starter solenoid terminal to confirm that it's getting power when you turn the key? If it isn't, work back through the starting system electrical schematic until you isolate the problem. Between the solenoid post and the battery, you have the clutch interlock switch, the starter cut relay, a 15A engine fuse, the ignition switch, fuses B1 40A, B2 40A, and Main 120A, and all the wires and connectors in between.

Do all the dash lights come on when you turn the key to On?

Do the lights dim when you turn the key to Start?

Probably need to get a multimeter down on the starter. Make sure the main big wire has 12v and the small wire gets 12v when someone turns the key to Start.

Thank you all for all the great advise, I will check these things and report back.
Hopefully with good news. This is the worst possible scenario since I'm not an electrical guy.
Basic mechanical maintenance type work but not electrical. So hopefully we can figure this out because it's stuck in the garage.

ithink this ground problem try to put thick wire from engine (alternator tensioner bolt) to chassi and try .

You don't have to be super duper with electronics for this circuit. It's pretty basic.

Get a multimeter and set it to 20v. Touch the black probe to a clean body panel for a ground and the red probe to what you want to look at. If you see around 12-14v pop up on the screen, you have voltage.

Start with the small wire to the starter, if it gets 12v at that wire when the key is in Start it's something with the starter. If not it's something upstream - the clutch switch, security relay, etc. But, start there and work backwards.

Note that if your car has cruise control, there are 2 switches on the clutch pedal. Make sure you bypass/test the correct one -- it's closest to the front of the car, by the firewall.

Thanks Retserof, mine is a touring with cruise control and you are absolutely right. The switch is fine what broke is a small plastic piece on the clutch pedal that pushes the switch plunger.
