FD problems...
Well the other day my airpump seized and I was searching on the forums and found out that with a shorter belt and stock pulleys you would be able to delete the airpump (I know it clogs the stock cat but I just wanted a temp fix). I bought a 300k4 belt and sure enough it started up, at first the belt was too loose so I tightened it. Now when I start it it works fine for a bit then smoke starts to come out either the alternator/pulley. What do you guys think I did wrong?
Thanks |
could you take pics of how you have it hooked up. That may help us understand better what you may have done.

300k4?
I could have sworn the altenator pulley is a 5 rib... |
Generally, the problem with only using a belt and not a pulley kit is that you need to over-tighten the belt too much for good contact. This can and will wear on the alternator and main bearings. Do it right by purchasing a Greddy or similar pulley kit for eliminating the airpump.

decided to put the aipump back on and just disconnect the electrical connector. Car works fine but under throttle I feel a loss of power and a loud deep whine sound. Does anyone know what could be wrong?
