FD cuts off on highway??

I'm having cut off problems with my FD 93 R1 on the highway. I will be crusing in 5th gear ~2500rpm and if i give it a bit more gas the car will completely die. Any ideas? this is my first FD so i'm not too knowledgable yet....

thanks
Paul

Is the check engine light on?

Sounds to me that you cannot go on boost, maybe it seems that it is RPM related but you can verify that.

Check if you can go past 2500rpms but DO NOT go under boost.

Then try to go under boost and see what happens.

Post your results.

I can go past boost, but it seems that i can only do that when the weather is warmer. i'm thinkin the car is leaning out too much.
i was thinking it was due to the fact that the car hasn't been warmed up enough but it still does it after 15mins of highway driving.

is it dying or just hesitating?

It might help if you list what has been done to the car so far (mods, maintenance like last oil/spark plug change, fuel filter, etc).

Sounds like a TPS(throttle position sensor) problem, or combination of that and bad O2 sensor.

Damn, you mean it will stall? That's fucking dangerous if you're on the highway

Wezz 02-28-03 09:19 PM

yea it completely stalls on the highway. I bought the car from a forum member from florida and i'm guessing the car is tuned for FL weather and when i drive it in the good ole cold ohio weather it dies. i'm guessing its running too lean, but not too sure though. I tried cold enrichment on the wolf 3D and it doesn't seem to help that much. any ideas would be helpful.....

Hey paul its Joe. Sorry to hear about your FD man how long has it been doing this to yeah? I know the guy converted to non sequential and bypassed everything iam wondering if he bypassed the fast idle cam also. If so that would definetely explain your crappy cold weather starting problems but that shouldnt effect the car after its been warmed up. Ill ask around for yeah. good luck though.

hey joe,

i got my exhaust up for sale....why don't you give me a call or PM me. i think the reason i'm running bad is due to the WOLF 3D fuel map. its hard to find more info on the wolf b/c not many ppl use it on the board.
