Fans turn on automatically and “heat” light goes on?

so I just finished putting in rx8 fans and the FC fan switch and when I turn the key to the auxiliary position, the fans automatically turn on and then after a few seconds the “heat” light comes on and makes and obnoxius beeping sound, anyone have any ideas what could be goin on? Thanks!

Coolant level sensor. Burp and fill your coolant.

Ok thanks I’ll try that! I replace all the coolant that was drained out because it was still good, but the coolant level was “filled” before it got to me, so it may still have some air in there, but I’ll give it try, thank you!

And correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s safe to run it with the “add coolant” light buzzing, since I won’t be able to top it off until the thermostat opens up after it’s warm?

Check it and top it off before you start it up. The level and temp sensors are on the thermostat housing with fragile old wires. Hopefully (probably) you just need some coolant, but you might've broke a wire in there.

Do a search for burping the FD. There are a few tricks. I hear a lisle funnel makes it a cake walk, if you can wait to get one.

yea I actually ordered one off of amazon so it should be here tomorrow. I only saw two sets of wires, one for the fan switch, and then another for something right above that, which I’m actually not sure what that one is for, but they seemed both intact before reassembly of everything

I believe that is the stock temp sensor location, above the fan thermo-switch.

Ok so that wouldn’t have anything to do with the add coolant light, I’ll double check the coolant level sensor while I’m waiting to receive the funnel system, that’s near the spark plug area correct?

Level sensor is on the front of the thermostat housing.
