A/f Gauge

i was planning to do boost gauge n a/f gauge.. im tryin to not have a bunch of gauges that i cant look all at once anyways hehehe

how important is it to you all considering there are:

- boost
- oil temp
- water temp
- egt
- wideband

any recommendation n inputs welcomed :icon_tup:

I have a Greddy Boost and EGT gauge along witht PLX digital wideband, but my power commander has the water along with other readings. If you plan on ever getting a PFC then i rather not waste money on stuff it has already.

If you build the car correctly, you don't need a bunch of gauges to monitor stuff.

That said, if you really need the extra monitoring, a boost gauge is nice since there isn't one stock, and a water temp gauge is nice since the stocker isn't numbered.

Like any other gauges, unless you know what the normal op temp should be, you aren't going to know when you're in the danger zone. Most are just a waste of money... like a turbo timer. :)

To each their own. Even if you build it properly that doesn't mean that something won't go wrong.

Personally, I have everything loaded up. Oil pressure you can take or leave. I got a new sending unit for the stocker and it works well, but at the time, I picked up one anyway.

Oil, water temp.
EGT
AFR
Boost, Fuel and Oil press.

Yes, on track I pay attention to them when possible and as needed.

There will be nay sayers, but it's your car after all. What do you want to spend?

The thing I don't like about the commander is the display sucks. Plus, I'm not planning to run it too much longer so I don't want to depend on something that's not going to exist anyway (plus mine's busted).

A lot depends on what you plan to do with the engine. Initially, I'd suggest
- water temp
- boost

I'd consider those to be almost essential, particularly the water temp. After that, I'd suggest that you make sure you have a working oil pressure gauge, stock is fine.

Unless you are going to be adding a PFC, I don't think that an EGT or AF gauge is useful.
