Experts Advice!!
 

I brought my car in to the shop on Sat. because I kept smelling fuel when the car was on and when i turned it off. The car also smoked alot upon start up then it went away once it warmed up. I was a little confused because the engine was recently rebuilt, the turbos were replaced with low mileage ones, the injectors were cleaned, all the fuel lines, filter, pulsation damnper were replaced as well. So anyway, I got the call yesterday and they told me that the fuel rail and injectors were bad and it was a miracle that i didn't blow myself up cause fuel was leaking all over.
The bad news is that they told me that the fuel got mixed in with the engine and when they checked the oil, it was basically all worn due to the gas getting into it.
I had just gotten an oil change less that 100 miles ago.
The shop told me that I might need a rebuild cause my bearings might of worn. I'm not sure what bearings they are talking about but they said to use it for now to see if I noticed any changes. I stopped by the shop last night and they started it up. the car stopped smoking, it idles perfectly and the oil pressure is good.
I'm sure some of you out there had something similar like this happen.
Do you think I'll need another rebuild???

...I think your shop is trying to sell you a rebuild that you don't need...

around 5000 miles from last rebuild.
They said theres a chance it might need it.
They said to drive it for a while to see how it runs

Definitly should not need a rebuild.

Check all possible places for a fuel leak (that could be dangerous!). My oil always smells strongly like gas, it's just normal. Change the oil, make sure there is no leak anywhere and go from there. Does this shop know anything about rotary engines?

I did start up the car last night and the car stopped smoking, the oil pressure is good, and the idle is perfect

Drive it, enjoy it, don't worry about it. You don't need a rebuild.

if yoru worried, just do a compression test.

acostamotorsports told you need a new motor?
I' heard about them and personaly met the owner by his shop in NJ and @ rotorfest, I heard good and bad things bout them, find another rotary mech and get a second opinion, of course a compression test would be very helpfull too.

I've met all of them also and they have a great shop. i'm not saying they run a bad shop or anything, i just posted to see if anyone had similar problems as to what i had and what was the outcome, thats all.
My experience with them so far is great, they have great customer service, they're prices are good and they worked on the car right away.

No, no neither have I, all I said was, a second opinion is good to take sometimes.
I'm surprised that they said you needed a new motor though, your motor is running perfectly, all you need is to check where's that fuel leak you got is comming from.

Run it for a while and see what happens. It won't really cost you anything to do that.

No, I understood, I just wanted to clarify that I wasn't saying anything bad about the shop.

They did fix the fuel leak, it was coming from the injectors and the fuel rail.
And to clarify, they said there is a possibility that it might need a rebuild, they said just use it and see how it feels.
