exhaust set up?

ok, i have a 94 fd, with apexi cold air intake, streetport, efini turbos, y-pipe, down pipe, racing beat cat-back, and the apexi power FC and commander. i have a mid-pipe i want to install. but my question is this: will installing the mid-pipe hurt my car's performance? i know that there is a possibility of boost creep. but my car hasn't been tuned yet and i plan on porting the wastegate within the month. any answers? zach

Zach, honestly you should search. there are many threads with information that can guide you into a knowledgeable direction.

i would make sure to port you wastegate asap. i have alot of the same mods as you and when i put my test pipe in it made a HUGE difference although my cat was starting to get plugged. also depending on what exhaust you have your exhaust will be way louder. i cant even talk on the phone in my car now because noone can hear me over the exhaust. back to you original question, i have not heard of it ever hurting performance but pay very close attention to your boost gauge because that is one of the easiest ways to pop your motor

but porting the wastegate and then installing the mid-pipe will keep the boost from creeping ? and thus keep my engine from popping like a virgins cherry on prom night?

I would not install a free-flow midpipe until you have competent boost control, fuel upgrades, and are ready to map your ECU for it.

A MP will *not* hurt your performance, in fact it will do quiet the opposite. However this could be a very bad thing if your fuel map is not set up to handle this change.

Personally, I would hold off...
