EVO-R Headlight weight VS. OEM?
Please post if you know:
1. weight Evo-r sleek headlights (preferably non-hid, but Hid would do in a pinch) 2. Oem headlight weight 3. Net weight savings thanks. |
anyone?
|
I think you wont get an answer bc everyone hates the EVO-R headlight kit.
So u wont get a direct answer, yes it weighs less but the fittiment is so crappy you wont do it Want to hear more? |
Yes. I still want to know the weight. *Sigh*

If you're willing to go with this kit you obviously don't need to see at night. Might as well gut the stockers and leave the covers on for appearances. Duct tape some walmart flashlights in there. Superior lighting and fitment for less than $10.
|
I would but race org rules state replacement lights must be intended for highway use and retain hi-low beam functionality.
Thanks for the $0.02 (always seems more like $0.80 in my threads) |
Pretty sure EVO-R kits say for off road use only, and I can think of about 50 other places you could save a few ounces without ruining your headlights.

$0.82 and counting. Haha. Scca solo street mod rules define highway use as a primary means of illumination with high and low beam functionality. They explicitly left out dot approval requirement.
I bougth a set, if any just to weight them vs stock and post findings here. I'll keep them in the garage until the national championships. In the mean time, I'm subscribed to numerous threads itemizing weight reduction ideas. Feel free to post your novel ideas there. I personally like the idea of bring able to shed an oz. from the front most end of the car. |
erg...I know you are specifically concerned with this kit...BUT...IIRC part of the point of this kit was to eliminate to subframe modification required with the Amemiya/Extreme kit. I am sure the kit is considerably lighter than the stockers with their heavy housings and headlamp motors. The Amemiya/Extreme kit may be even lighter due to removing portions of the subframe. The c-west/east-bear kits should also be similar in weight and err....better. I do so detest the bubbly look though. I wish I could weigh one up for you, but I don't have one. If you weigh your stock components you might be able to convince someone to weigh their sleeks for you.
I would venture that you could save 1.5-2lbs per side or up to 4lbs total. maybe save a pound per motor and half a pound per housing. Just a guess. $0.84 and counting |
