EURO vs JDM vs USA FD VERSIONs

3 Attachment(s)
Hi all

I was really upset when i found yesterday that my front washer tank is missing. I contact another friend that has a FD rx7, but his version is the USA one and he old me that there were some versions of the car that only had the rear washer tank.

So i really would like to open a thread where member can put here the diferences between the versions that were sold.
What is know is that the European versions had "almost" all the extras and from what i can say here goes

EURO versions STOCK sold ( besides stock equipment that was comum with other markets) they had it stock.

- Twin engine oil coolers
- R1 front spoiler
- R1 rear spoiler
- rear mud guards only
- leather seats
- rear fog lights
- 5 speed manual with cruise control
- R1 front shock tower support brace
- front headlights with water sender shower
- front headlights with light position regulation
- rear wiper blade/washer

So, here goes my problem, i don`t know if the front washer tank is stock to all versions.

Anyone that would like to add some info, please tell me something.

Thanks

Filipe Azevedo

Hi

I forgot to tell that Euro cars didn`t have the front fog lights, and near their places is one front hook, to pick up the car in case of accident or car failure.

How about USA / JDM cars front hook location? and my front washer tank that is missing? :) - My both front and rear windshield water splash work and the headlights water splash works too.

I would like someone has a brochure or info to tell what is stock and what is not....

Thanks

Filipe

front headlights with light position regulation

oh I want this! could be inmensely useful to those that are getting the sakebomb hid projector conversion!

Herblenny 02-19-10 08:18 AM

Well, Sounds like to me someone changed things on your car.

Far as I know, windshield washer reserve tanks are in the same location for all FDs. Why don't you also take some pictures of your engine bay and inside of your hatch.

Ceylon 02-19-10 08:25 AM

The euro ones have the rear washer tank that is MASSIVE, perfect for AI, they're pretty sought after.

Odd, I thought it was only on the Euro cars with front light washers & rear wipers. What model is your FD?

So

Is that possible that Euro cars didn`t have the front washer tank? Can someone help me on this?

Thanks

If you were using this for WI or MI, or any type of AI that your engine is pretty much dead if the system fails under boost, wouldn't this tank be highly susceptible of starvation? It's so wide, it seems like any kind of turn under boost and you'd starve the system.

Any thoughts?

FilipeA 02-20-10 11:41 AM

So, i went to search on some UK rx7 car clubs and i found this 1993 FD Euro spec on sale.
It has low miles and unmolested car - told by seller - and its very close with my car, so the Euro FD cars, didn`t have the front washer tank as you can see in the pics below

Front pic - car without fog lights and with front hook.

http://i308.photobucket.com/albums/k...4/L1000344.jpg

The 2 spoilers that were stock and the rear mud guard only.

http://i308.photobucket.com/albums/k...4/L1000345.jpg

The rear fog lights - only on Euro spec

Engine bay without the front washer tank

Now i can see that my car is stock and withou missing parts :)

erm...its the 1994 efini R something.... it doesn't have the front light washer but does have the rear wiper if that helps, no front washer tank.

Post some pics of it & I can tell you what model it is. A 94 R2 has no rear tank at all (I should know...I own one!)

The tank has a few pumps to prevent that I believe. I've seen a few of people use them without issues on track :)

fdz4me 02-20-10 01:23 PM

My Canadian tourning has headlight washer and the tank in the rear also.

stubba 02-22-10 07:29 PM

anybody know how much liquid the rear washer tank holds ???

Mr. GTUs 02-22-10 08:46 PM

i noticed in pictures off spirit r the center console does not go all the way back to the bins. it stops a foot short. i always thought that was weird.

All jdm rx7s are like this, its to accomodate the rear seat option (not pictured)

my suggestion would be to relocate the port to the bottom lowest portion of the tank...

Supernaut 10-10-11 08:54 AM

Yea it's hard finding that rear tank. I found one but I'm not sure if it's worth using for water injection. With the stock tank, you can't check on the level very easily even when you unscrew the cap. In the end, buying an external tank was the better option for me. Checking the level was just a glance away.

Hi Im Simon 10-10-11 09:08 AM

can't you just solve that by putting in a meter to read the level of the tank?

have any of you tried fitting this wiper tank in a US model before?

Supernaut 10-10-11 11:20 AM

Maybe just cutting a line in the panel that covers the tank would work as well but nothing beats having a larger, less complicated tank. As far as having a meter (you mean just a low level sensor right?), I usually like to check on my tank every time a I fill up or take the car out. I'd like still like to know if I'm at the halfway mark to empty.

Hi Im Simon 10-10-11 01:20 PM

yeah a low level sensor. I wanted to make the installation as stealth as possible, also didn't want to take up trunk room. This is just a fun street car for me.

see that black cap on the lower left behind the light? is that not the front washer tank right there.... sits nice and low behind the oil cooler?

My USDM FD has it, and has the rear washer tank as well because it has the rear wiper.

Are you telling me it is a coolant reservoir?

that is the radiator overflow, the washer tank is on the right from that angle.

Metan 10-27-23 08:35 AM

i was allready notice differences in rear lights. Only the outer bulbs goes on with break pedal on EU version. Not both lights on each lights. Its weird because i was thinking about something weird things in my FD but texting friend who has the same EU version confirm this. only one light on each side is brighter witg break pedal.

i was looking inside for maybe bulb fail but it's fine, outer-inner, trying switch them, no change
