etest.

OK, my FD needs to pass an etest so I can drive it. In ontario here, visual basically doesn't matter, but sniffer does. The sniffer test is done in two ways: idle (stopped) and 40km/h (20mph?) roll under load (on a dyno).

the car currently has no cats, and an exhaust leak at the muffler. The stock airbox is non-existant but everything else is there, including airpump.

I just bought a 3" universal cat, and a new dynomax super turbo muffler (hopefully it's very quiet... we'll see I guess)

Is there an airpump output to the exhaust? Should I plumb it in if there is? Before or after this cat? (this cat doesn't require air injection).. I'm thinking the dilution would at least help...

What about methyl hydrate? I just bought a few gallons at the grocery store since it was on sale, I dunno even why they sell it there LOL. What ratio should I put it in?

I heard new cats have a break-in period, and that I should be very gentle with the car for the first few days to prevent it from melting, in reality, the car is going to be driven to the etest place with it on, and once it passes the etest the cat is coming out and going on a shelf till the next time I need it.

any other tips?

Depending on how strict the emissions testing is, you may or may not pass without the air pump hooked up to the cat. The cat feed is controlled by the ACV, there should be a pipe underneath the car if not removed by the previous owner. You can look at the Secondary Injection section of Chapter F of the FSM for more details.

Electric Air Pump plumbed into the cat will do wonders for emissions...

Slip the emissions guy a 50$ and tell him that you really need the car to pass.
