Engine wire harness picture w/connectors labled
I need the experts help. I just spent the last couple hours tracking down every connector on the engine harness and labeling them. I didn't label them when I removed the harness. Silly me.
There are two connectors circled in red that I have no clue where they go to. Help me finish the diagram and give suggestions to make it better if you can think of any. I will be removing all solenoid wiring, all emissions wiring and connectors after I know for sure what all the connectors are. I left the diagram a link because I wanted to leave it large so it's easily read and we don't have to download 300kb every time this thread is viewed. http://www.blackgto.com/RX7/wireharness.jpg John |
The single wire connector for the back of the waterpump housing will be for the Thermoswitch. The other will be for the Thermosensor.
The black one on the CAS line I believe is for the iginition harness. |
Blue connector is EGR (you could have searched for that one ;) ).
|
The two connectors left both have two wires. Sorry if the picture isn't clear enough. That's the best my camera can do keeping the whole harness in view.
The top red circle on the CAS line is black, yellow face, two wires, one heavy and one thin and looks exactly like the wastegate or turbo precontrol solenoids. It will even connect to those solenoids. The bottom red circled connector has a blue body, orange face and equal gauge wires. |

EGR? I thought the EGR was only vacuum?

I have a mechanical EGR, not an electric one so the blue connector with orange face is still a mystery.
Lesson learned, label all connectors before removal unless they are connecting back up right away. |

Ah, excellent info. I will update the picture now.
All that's left is the black connector with yellow face exactly like the wastegate and turbo precontrol conenctors. |
Ain't it the connector that goes into the other harness?
|
That's a great photo, SportCoupe2. I'll try to get info on that last connector.

There is so much info on the RX7 here I thought I'd try to add what I can. I searched and didn't see anything like it before. I am of course open to suggestions before I remove 60% of the connectors and wiring in the next day or two.
|
I figured out the last connector. It was the purge control solenoid connector. I labeled it and updated the picture which is now complete.
|
great, nice addition
|
Thanks. Today I separated all the emissions, solenoid wiring and connectors from the harness. There isn't much left really. Time to set the breakouts and wrap the harness. Maybe tomorrow, I have lots going on right now.

No I didn't take any pictures after I removed all the crap. Wasn't much left to take a picture of..... :icon_tup:
|
now that you've done it. any chance of updating the picture with what can be removed. maybe simply by marking an X next to them?

Yea if you could please take a picture with what you dont need removed, I would love it so I can use it as a reference.
Thank you for doing so by labeling all the connectors I am sure many people can benefit from this! |
I'm doing a single turbo, no emissions/rat nest.
|
I'll echo that. I have a single T installed and am halfway through removing pretty much every solenoid. I'm in an emission testing state so I still have the ACV. However, pretty much everything else is gone - all turbo solenoids, double throttle, FPR.
A marked up picture would be great. Regards, Crispy |
Here is a marked up picture of the connectors I removed from the harness when I went full non sequential.

that is an awesome pic

im putting a motor back in the car but there is one connector im having trouble with.
its a single female connector. it sprouts from the part of the engine harness behind the alternator. its long enough to run down behind the power steering pump. from here, it can reach TWO mating plugs; one from the AC compressor, the other from the driverside engine harness, near the large 6pin plug. logic tells me that the ecu-portion of the engine harness shouldnt have to connect to the driverside-portion of the engine harness... and that it SHOULD plug into the AC compressor. is this right? |
