engine swapping (supra engine)
 

I tried searching on this subject, but couldnt find anything on it...

Around how much would it cost to swap an rx7 engine to a Supra engine in a 3rd gen rx7?
could I find a supra engine with a turbo for cheap? and where?
the swap would probably cost around $2000....
would the engine fit properly?

if anyone here knows anything on this subject or had it done before...please post... :)

I'm pretty sure a nice pretty 13B will fit in the engine bay much easier than a supra motor...

No it will not fit properly, SP engineering has the Supra 7 and they had to change teh whole geometry of the car...it will cost you more than just 2000

Asking how much for the motor but you know the swap will cost 2k?? ??? The swap will not only cost more than 2k but it will throw off handling as a supra motor is big and heavy. You will probably lose ground clearance and you'll need a huge ugly hood to clear the motor like on the SP eng. car. Oh and try searching for "supra motor" or "supra engine".'

If you want to do a motor swap do a 20B or a LT1 or LS1 V8. There's no need for a supra motor.

I think the LS1 is slightly larger in dimension than the LT1. I don't think anyone has gotten a LS1 in a 7. Jimlab is doing an LT1 isn't he? Either way, if you were going to put anything in it other than a 13b it should be a 20b. Not to rip on the people who have swapped piston engines in, but I think piston engines ruin the car's appeal. Leave the pistons for the cars that came with them.

Those things are'nt cheap!! This is one hell of a project...look to spend some serious dinero. It would be cheaper to just fix the original engine (if it broke) and hook it up with a single and engine management with some goodies than to do what your wanting to do. Anyway...goodluck on that one!!

Conact SP Enginerring...but just to let you know with the money you will be spending to do this you can buy a couple of FD or Supras.

Alex at SP did this and it took him a few years not to mention Alex well he has pocke, very deep pockets.

In my opinion it is not something that a "normal" person can do. Alex not only has the finances but the connections and his shop to do the car.

If you only have the finances then you better have enought to outweigh the other two factors.

The motor and trany will cost you more than that. Six speed supra trany's are very expensive. Some say they aren't able to be rebuilt correctly either.

The fab work and labor will cost you more than the motor and trany. If you really want a supra, I say sell your rx7 and buy one. lol

I cant even begin to think that someone would want to do this!! why not a 20b single turbo i got a chance to ride in peters farrells 3 rotor and it was so fu$*ing scary but at the same time it was like have'n sex w/ pamela anderson!:eek: :eek: it was sick that is all i have too say. beat it ya freak!!!!!!!!!!!!!
