engine start up problem

I have a 94 fd with 60k I was on a suspended liscense for a year and was not able to start the car as frequently as I wanted too. It flooded a few months ago and we changed the spark plugs for ngk 9's all around and got a walbro racing fuel pump. I gassed it up today and it still won't start what's the problem

Did you actually go through the de-flooding process, or did you only replace the spark plugs?

Just replaced the plugs..looked for the deflood process online but was unsuccessfull can u explain it to me

How old is the gas? Is it from over a year ago? You may have to drain and put fresh in if it is that old.

Put in new premium gas and tried the deflood process twice with no luck...it spits thick white smoke out and sounds so close to starting but won't roll over

Could the fuel filter be clogged because of the bad gas sitting in the car?

NotoriousKracka 10-19-08 11:11 PM

Just removed the fuel filter and it was not clogged I'm going to replace it anyways due to the new fuel pump it's always smart to change both. But there is still no obvious fix it still won't start any advice?

Check if you have fuel and spark, then you just need to keep going with the un-flooding procedure. It can take a a few attempts if the car was flooded and not started for a while. Also make sure you keep a battery charger on while doing this process. You can run the battery down VERY easily while trying to get it started.

make sure to properly gap the spark plugs.

try to apply some ATF (automatic tranny fluid) on the tip of the clean spark plugs. if you get it to start you would get alot smoke for a meantime (due to the atf) but this will go away as the car warms up. hope that helps.
