engine running problems
 

ok guys,,,im still working on my rebuilt 3rd get turbo

i can get car to started,,,,runs nice but with an odd pop down the exaust,,,anyhow.....if i try to blip the throttle,,,while the engine is warming up....and it bangs down the exaust and i loose the running of one of the rotors....then when the engine starts to run hotter,,,the 2nd rotor starts to fire once again.

im still thinking that i got a fuel leak into manifold,,,,the only good thing i can come up with (apart from more running it).....
also if i turn engine off,,,,it will only restart on both rotors,,,once ive unflooded them and dried the plugs,,,,so it must be due to flooding,,,

so either
1)low compression due to new engine
2)fuel leak,,,,into manifold,,,or poor spray pattern maybe

some one point me in right direction,,,pleasseeee:D

I'm having trouble understanding what part of the car you've worked on.

But do not run the engine if it floods, or not firing on all four. You're asking for trouble.

how long has it been since the fuel injectors have been cleaned and calibrated? do you have spark that will jump about an inch or the metric equivalent (width of your thumb) to ground?

any engine codes?

my engine has just been rebuilt,,,,but i havent had anything done with injectors

mazda recommends cleaning injectors every 15,000 miles. I think thats overkill. but I wouldn't do an engine overhaul without cleaning them. Nor if I was a shop would I warranty an engine without it. They are most easily accessible at this time. I found some injector shops could observe the pattern but couldn't give me a flow rate because they didn't have the setup for the rx7 injectors. I sent them to to RC engineering in California $125 american for cleaning and calibrating ( this was two years ago) all four injectors. Number them before you send them out and when you put them back in, balance them so one rotor is not getting more gas than the other. When they come back they may not be in balance, if you have a bad one they should tell you.

you can clean your fuel rail too. and consider replacing the hose on the rail if it shows deterioration, and bench test your coils and wires

do you have adequate compression? take out a plug, disable the engine from starting get a partner to turn the motor over and listen or feel for a putt, putt, putt on each rotor. If you get a putt, putt, swosh, you have an apex seal problem.

i had the same prob with mine it was the injectors take an ohm meter and check them they should read about 12ohms after u check them if their is a sgmificant difference in the ohm number then they are bad if the ohm reading goes high thats why u are flooding out i replaced all four injectors and it runs fine now
