Tear it down and evaluate it the turbos and the like, if all is okay I'll get the stock turbos rebuilt, get a mild streetport on the rebuild, put it all back together for ANOTHER 90,000 miles of fun! :D

It's about freaking time! ;) J/K'ing

Good luck with the rest of the process. Don't forget to have those injectors cleaned and flow balanced while everything is apart. :)

Yup....that is one of the things on my list, and I need to figure out a way to keep the boost down, it was one too many of those 12+ psi runs that did me in. I guess I can just put the pill I got from Pettit with my downpipe in and see how it does....

I just received my engine hoist and I was wondering where are the hook points on the engine to hoist it up? Thanks! I was looking at the service manual and it doesn't really show the points where you hook it up.

You should have two hook ups:

1. Near the alternator
2. On the UIM passenger/firewall side

Those are the stock locations provided no one removed them from your engine.

Also, Now would be a GREAT time to have the tranny rebuilt, or atleast get a nice ACT Street/Strip clutch with a Racing Beat 9.5lb Flywheel... I had that setup on my FD and loved every minute of it. Nice and tight, but VERY streetable :)

May I suggest cleaning up that front bumper too! :) haha just playin

Yeah that clutch will work great in his automatic. ;)

how difficult was it to seperate the engine from the tranny, while still in the vehicle?

Not bad at all. I had bought the video from Rotary Aviation and it really showed me some key points that I had been missing all along. One thing that IS amiss in the RA vid is they don't do a 3rd gen automatic tranny engine removal, they substitute in a 2nd gen, which while SIMILAR is not the same, so I had a couple of issues that I had to resolve.
One was the fact that you must disconnect the tranny cooler oil lines where the engine and transmission meet...no big deal as there are 'soft' connectors there. The other deal is there is a LONGGGGGGGG ass part of the wire harness that snakes down and around to the far end of the tranny, it has connectors near the air pump fitting.
All in all it was pretty anti-climatic, the engine came right out after disconnecting the flex plate from the torque converter and removing the bell housing bolts (key is the 24" extension with a 14mm flex socket) and the engine mount bolts.
:boink:

don't mess with pills, that's what killed me....part with $100 and get a cockpit mounted manual boost controller so you can adjust boost "on the fly" for cold nights

I assume you are at least running an upgraded ECU

Good luck, I took mine out over the summer, had it rebuilt, put on some new parts and after having RRR fix what I screwed up during the reinstall, its running great. I hope you have better luck putting it back in then I did.
