Which engine? Need opinions...
Mods, if you think this is in the wrong section, please move it to where you think it needs to go...
Ok, hopefully with in the next few weeks I will pick up another FD shell and I'm not sure what engine/transmission combo I want to put into it. I already have a 383 LT1 in a '93 and my DD is a near stock R1 (downpipe + midpipe, intake, upgraded IC, PFC + commander). So, what should I put into the next shell? Which ever engine I decide on, I'm looking to get about 400 hp and the reliability to drive it daily if i want to... |
13b-most power/least cost/no headaches
|
Well if you already have a V8 FD and a 13b FD then the obvious choice would be 20b.
|
I guess 20B is the only one you need....eventually I will be just like you, I have the 13B next is a 20B N/A and last will be a LS1 FD
20B all the way... |
Go with a gas turbine. Then you will have a piston, a rotory, and an engine with an axial flow compressor. You will probably need a bigger muffler though.
|
20b ftw. its the only one you dont have.
|
4 Rotor!
Or 20B... |
I would go for a 20b NA, ported.
Maybe not the huge power of a turbo motor, but it would interesting. |

Deep down, in your heart of hearts, in places you don't talk about at dinner parties, you know what you need.

The 20b and the V8 will both get you to your power goal N/A, so reliability shouldn't be much of an issue.
Honestly, if I had a V8 FD and a 13B FD and was picking up a new shell, I'd either part it out and make some money back or go with a RB26 swap. |
20b NA FTMFW
|
get an electric motor and a fuel cell stack
not sure what trans to use, but i hear the tesla has a good one. good luck |
