engine harness

how hard is it to replace the engine harness? is there an online guide somewhere? "shortcuts"? is the FSM any help?

thanks

I think the more modified you are the easier it is going to be. Other than that take pics/write things down and dont rush it.

Tedious! Very very tedious, but not difficult. All the connectors are fairly unique except for maybe the injectors and the crank angle sensors. use a digital camera to take a bunch of photos before you tear things apart.

You would have to pull the UIM and getting the harness through the firewall takes a lot of patience.

does the ABS unit need to be removed?

No but some have found that removing the brace from the bottom side of the ABS helps provide more room to get the harness in and out.

I did it back in the fall. My car is almost 100% stock under the hood.

I needed to remove:
- TB elbow, TB, UIM
- The whole rats nest
- alternator, engine hoist bracket
- vacuum tank
- oil filler neck

I can't remember anything else offhand. This is also a perfect time to replace your oil metering lines if they are also crispy.

perfect. thanks.

i dont have the rats nest. TB, TB elbow and UIM pose no threat. alternator, bracket and oil filler neck shouldnt be too hard. whats the vacuum tank?(i didnt remove the rats nest so forgive me if its part of it).
and have some SS omp lines waiting to be installed.
