engine harness

Hey guys, will a JDM harness work for our US cars or will it require some modding to work? While tearing down my engine looks like I'll need a newer harness also. This is going to be a fun rebuild.

just buy THE new US harness, it fits, its a work of art. i say THE new harness, as there is 1 currently in the free world.

If you have plans to go single, I highly recommend a Rywire harness. Its cheaper and milspec wire. Otherwise, stock twins will require a new harness. As mentioned, if you are keeping the car, spend the coin on a fresh harness, they are welm worth it. Definitely call Ray from Malloy Mazda for OEM parts.

The OEM ones also show up every now and then brand new in the for sale section for $400-$500.

I suspect the JDM harness will not have the smog connectors, still be old and crackly, and you may have to lengthen some of the connectors since they are usually different due to the whole RHD thing. Thats what I saw with my sr20det install in my old 240sx anyways.

I also think Rywire was working on a OEM twin harness.

I'll have to look into rywire and see if they have a set. I picked up a good set of '99 twins.

I believe he said he can reuse the ends thats missing if you still have the original harness.
