Engine Fire Damage

I have question when you have engine compartment fire what usually gets roasted??? lol i want to buy longblock but its been through a engine fire... the fire was enough to change the title of the car to salvage...

Oh, man, basically everything electrical, emissions, or fuel related. Hoses, wiring, etc, etc. You'll quickly spend a few grand replacing necessary parts from a very minor engine fire.

A fire would be okay if all you need was the shortblock (and even it could be damaged), but anything on the longblock is no good.

depends on duration of the fire... coolant seals are made of rubber! give a engine fire long enough and those suckers are string cheese. :)
