Engine/ECU Monitoring

I have a stock FD and I don't have any desire to increase performance or to muck around with ECU upgrades. What I would like is some way of monitoring and displaying what the ECU is doing.

I can find heaps of info on ECU replacements or piggybacks intended for modders, but would like some ideas on pure engine feedback from the ECU's perspective.

For the money involved, a PFC should really be the first mod on any FD (along with reliability stuff like ast, fuel filter, etc.). IT can let you tune for better driveability/idle, better mileage, and safer power, plus it can display anywhere from 1 to 8 vehicle perameters such as:

coolant temp
air intake temp
rpm
knock level
injector duty
battery voltage
boost/map pressure

This eliminates the need for an aircraft-cockpit-style slew of aftermarket gauges that are expensive and a bitch to wire up.

Where do you mount your PFC remote? I've seen them in pictures of FD interiors and am not crazy about them. I like my tripod center speaker mount.

Some people just tuck them in between the console and passenger seat, and of course gotham offers those PFC commander holders that sit right beside your radio, with the mount bolting inside the glovebox door area. I have the same one in my FC which uses the PFC, but it sits higher up by the a/c vents.
