Engine built to order
I live in Guam. I do not have the knowledge or facilities to get my project running and my car has to be running in order to get shipped back to the states when it's time for me to leave Guam.
I would like to order an engine that has been ported, with a single turbo kit (T04z), TUNED and get it shipped out here to guam. I can drop it in and drive it without further headache. What companies could help and how much will this cost? |

It can be done but it is not very practical. The tuning part is the biggest headache. Tuning on an engine dyno or even in another car then pulling everything and shipping. The problems are that there are more to the engine then what you are asking for. Engine and T04Z are just basic parts, there is the fuel system, ignition, ECU, intercooler, oil coolers, clutch & flywheel etc that all play a roll in tuning the engine. This can easily add up to over $20K in parts.
Since you say you do not have the knowledge or facilities you are better off getting your car running as stock as possible just so you can get it into the states or sell it and spend the $20k on a single turbo FD when you get home. |
Would probably be cheaper/easier to ship out your car and then ship it back to you lol. I'd be willing to manage such a task for you :) But like Banzai-Racing said, either way it won't be cheap, there is more to a setup then just the engine and turbo.

Honestly,
It would probably be cheeper to have the motor/turbo built by a reputable builder, and get a good safe baseline PFC map, get it installed, running, and broken in, and then buy Steve Kan a plane ticket to Guam to come and road or dyno tune your car. Humans ship cheaper than cars! Maybe you could work a deal out with him, since I'm sure Steve or anyone would love an opportunity to take a short vacation in Guam (I lived there for several years as a kid, it's beautiful) or Hawaii on the way, and maybe you could find other enthusiasts locally who need a tune to defray costs. |
Also,
How soon are you coming back? If it's soon, and you just need a car that's running in order for the military or whomever to ship it, you might just stick with the rich/safe base tune and drive easy until you get back and can get it done properly. |
^ That might be better option. Didn't even think of that. Steve Kan could probably arrange the whole thing.

It would be cheaper to buy a prebuilt car and have it shipped to you, that is just being honest.
|
^ That assumes one does not have an attachment to the car in question ;)
