Engine Bay Update
4 Attachment(s)
Well this whole process started off because I needed to replaced my oil pan and insall a pan brace. That turned into painting my engine bay, getting my intakes ceramic coated, etc..
Having trouble with the images, will try again |
Excellent! I love how simple projects develop into bigger ones!
|
Nice project you got going
|
Are you painting the exterior blue as well?
|
Looks good, and I'm sure 99% of everyone here knows how easy it is to start something simple like changing your spark plugs, and before you know it your wife is pissed because you maxed out the credit card and drained your life savings by ordering new parts . I didn't go that far with my current project, but far enough that the wife has raised an eyebrow from time to time. :rlaugh:

Well, you definitely took the hard route to pulling the oil pan. You know all you have to do is get the subframe down a little, right? :)
|
RXtacy: Yes the exterior will also be blue. I have a GTC front and sideskirts that are going on, and plan on getting the 99 spec wing.
Alexdimen: I've done oil pans through the bottom before but I wanted to have the engine upside-down to seal it, that way no oil can run down and get on the silicone before it dries. I'll try to keep updates posted. |

Finally Done!
It's been a long process of finding time and waiting for parts to get back but the engine bay is pretty much done. Let me know what you think

I have to get my body kit put on first. |
Looking good. Can't wait to see it when it gets painted!
|
Wow, that is going to be a jaw dropping FD when it's completed. :shocking:
One thing, get all new reservoirs so they are clear instead of yellew. You already went all out, might as well. :) But seriously, that color is amazing. :icon_tup: |
Nice!

Where can you get "clear" reservoirs? Or is that just what they look like when new? I've never seen this before... Also, which "reservoirs" are you referring to? TIA! |
He was referring to the washer fluid and coolant reservoirs. They aren't clear like glasss they are more of a white color, but as they age they get yellow-ish like mine are now. I have a newer pair somewhere I just need to find them.

Can you point me to the picture he was referrencing that shows your reservoirs? I just want to compare the color and see if mine could use a replacement. |
If you look at the picture below. Right by the hood prop/behind the driver's head light you can see the washer fluid reservoir. The reservoir itself really isn't yellow but as you can see the lid is. You can't see the coolant res. in any of these pics.

Yeah, I called them "clear" in color, but really they are more of a transparent whitish color, sorry. :)
Ray at Malloy has these I believe. The brake, washer, and coolant over flow tanks are the ones I will replace on mine eventually as well because they are yellowed badly from age. |
Back from the dead

Thought I would bring this thread back from the dead seeing as I am finally going to get the car painted this month.
For a while not much changed, the car was just sitting. I recently got a Seibon KS hood and installed it along with everything but my sideskirts. |

The bumper was a treat to put on. I bought it second-hand and it was suppose to be from rotary extreme, I'm thinking that it is not. The mounting portion that goes to the core support was so far off there was no saving it. A little time with the handy dremel and a little disassembly of the stock bumper fixed the mounting issue.

looking good!
