Just got the car and have a few questions about the engine. I'll let the photos do the talking.

That looks like a siren mounted upside down for an aftermarket alarm.
good luck...

1. Yes, that's a filter to protect the MAP sensor (not boost controller).
2. Never seen that one before....and no, the BOV is completely useless hooked up like that. It needs to be hooked up before the throttle body. And you should probably address your poor throttle cable too.
3. Mybaby is probably right on that one.

1. Yes, its not a check valve, and thats your MAP sensor.

2. you need to see where the large pipe from the BOV is going to. If you get a noise when your on boost and you lift off and no noise when your in vacuum and lift off, chances are its connected right. The small pipe is deffo connected in the right place, the large one icannot see from the photo.

3. Its your alarm!

My thoughts too, he said it needed to be connected before the TB so i figured he was talking about the inlet rather than the VAC line- you cant see where the inlet is connected in the pic.

My thoughts as well. I would say at least 9 out of 10 cars use that nipple for the blow off.

You guys are right of course, that's what I get for surfing when I am dead tired....assuming the inlet hose to the BOV is from the y-pipe, the BOV is fine.

The filter to the map sensor is actually installed backwards, the arrow should be pointing away from the MAP sensor

BlueTII - since you are a Rotary Engine Specialist, I will flip the filter tonight. Thanks for catching this for me...does it hurt the car in anyway with the filter installed backwards?

Your MAP sensor is now contaminated and needs to be replaced... Just kidding. ;)

I've seen them on backwards on a lot of cars. There are several theories as to it's real purpose, but all filters are built with a specific filter direction. Going the opposite direction than intended decreased the filter efficiency (just like a home HVAC filter). However, I doubt there was any harm done as I have yet to see a MAP sensor failure be directly linked to improper filter installation. :)

Does it really make any difference?? If so, i didn't know that.. I just thought those thing to be 2 way valve/filter to absorb moisture.

Stupid question, but is it okay to run the MAP hose w/o the filter? Currently I dont have a filter on that hose the MAP is on.

I run it without filter for approximately 2 years now... but people would say you should.

yes you should however i am also guilty of not having one.....
