Emissions evasion?
 

I live in IL and have been informed that my car will not pass emissions once it has been finished... So how do people get around emissions... I have heard about regeristing the car in a different state which does not have emissions... But how would I go about doing this...

PM me. I live in lake county and it took me 4 times to pass. I tried everything. First make sure your car is running well. Good compression, new plugs, new oil change etc... I finally ended up with a new high flow cat and a gallon of denatured alchohol in a half tank of gas.

yeah I live in wauconda, so we probably have to go to the same emissions station...

yeah and about my sister, shes to young and that ain't happening...

Just register it in a county that doesn't have emissions.

move to hawaii, no emmisions here :D
Offering them money is always a good bet, initially they might say no but everyone has a price ;)

In order to register it in another state, you'd have to buy insurance in that state and have that state's driver's license.

As someone who has moved quite frequently and has registered their cars in several states I can assure you that you don't need that state's driver's license (or often times any license) to register your car there. Most of the time you do have to "prove" residence in the state you're trying to register in.

For instance, I registered my car in Oregon despite having a Washington drivers license. I just had to show proof of residence (my rental agreement).

do you have to get insurance in the state that you register it in... or can you just use your insurance from the state that you live in. Example I live in IL and if I were to registerit it say my moms house in WI could I just use my insurance from IL.

Well in the states that i have registered vehicles, (new york, maryland, florida) i can assure you that you DO need the state license.

Florida's laws having to do with cars are all wierd from what I hear. My advice is to register it elsewhere. I don't think that they actually looked at the address when I registered my car in South Carolina. There's no emissions here and its really cheap to register too! Call up some DMVs in states where they have no emissions and see what they require to register it there.

you guys should register your cars in california, very friendly to rx-7s and cars in general.

Can you use the "registered in another state" work-around to avoid having a front license plate as well?
