Electrical problem, seat belt light, windows, - may be the cold?
Hey guys, ive got a electrical problem, ive done a search and i did have a thread on this a while back but i cant seem to find it and i had concluded that it was a weak battery but its not as i had the battery tested.
The problem is that when the car is first started in a day, usually in the morning, the seat belt light goes on and off and makes that beeping noise. Once i plug my seat belt in that beeping stops but the clicking sound of the belt light continues to click and flash. While this is happening my windows dont work either, they slowly come down. After about 20 minutes of driving, when the car is completely warmed up, the car will stop doing all of this and everything is back to normal for the rest of the day. I have taken to my mechanic who couldnt quite work it out, im planning on taking it to mazda and ask them. It only started with the onset of winter. Its not that cold here, the outside temp usually gets to around 0 degrees celicus at night. I was wondering is it possible that the battery is freezing up at night causing this electrical problem? My car is stored undercover but it exposed to the outside temps. William |
I had the same problem with my Saturn. The cause was a corroded negative battery terminal. I think morning condensation worsened the issue. Once it warmed up the battery light went off and everything started working normally. Check your battery connection, then whatever ground connection all those devices share.

Today it stayed on the longest it ever has, it didnt stop for like 20minutes, today was also the coldest day this year and coldest day since ive owned the car too. The previous owner kept it in a garage. I might get a blanket for it!:rlaugh: |

I had a similar problem and it ended up being that my alternator positive terminal had severe corrosion buildup and ended up killing my battery. Try getting a new battery from a friend for a day or two and cleaning all terminals up.

im having that proglem right now. I really dont think its the battery because I even changed mine and still have the problem. I read on another thread where a couple of people said that the problem was the relay box under the dash on side of chassis. (passenger side on US and driver side of Japanese car)
Not sure if this is the problem you are having but mine slowly started acting up (like you say yours is) and then one day just stuck with the problem. Hope this helps. |

ok, not sure if you are trying to find the battery terminals but just pop up the black box that is covering the battery and BAM, there are the terminals.
the alternator terminals are behind the alternator and one should be a plug and the other is a bolt on. just stand on the driver side (US spec) of the car and look to the left of the compression tube (right below the stut bar) and you will see the back of the alternator and the terminals i am talking about. honestly, if you are having trouble finding the battery terminals then i think its best that you leave it to the pros to find the problem. |
