Electrical Problem!
This all started when I THINK I may have shorted something out when I accidentally touched a wrench from the alternator to the throttle body and saw a spark. The car continues to run and is able to be driven, but many things don't get any power once the car is shut off. When turning the key to the "ON" position, the dash lights, radio, ecu and fuel pump don't get any power. The car is still able to turn over when trying to start it.The first time this happened, everything started to work properly after I pulled the main egi and circuit relays, although I heard a rapid relay ticking noise from the passenger side footwell (my car is lhd). I simply popped the relays back in, and my car worked for about a week where I ran into the problem again. Can someone chime in on what could be happening? Thanks in advance.

How can the car start if the fuel pump is not getting power?
The Body Electric Troubleshooting manual in the stickies has some good electrical diagnostic procedures. |
well like i said, everything works normally until i shut the car off. that is when the problems start. is there some sort of self-resetting breaker on the car? the car is working again. i've never run into this problem until i touched the alternator and the throttle body with a wrench.

anyone?

sounds like an ignition switch issue. check to see if it's getting power out with the switch in the on position.

the ignition switch isn't working intermittently though. not sure what triggers the problem, but when this problem does happen, those things mentioned don't get power for maybe 10 minutes and everything works as it should again.
