Electrical help requested
 

HI guys,


After 2 years of rebuilding my FD (2nd time) I'm about to start it up again.


Though some electrical worries are holding me back, so I need some urgent help.

1. wire coloring.

- Knock sensor
- oil pressure sensor
- water temp sensor


Basically everything that is on the wire tree running from the fuse box to the starter motor. Somehow connecters broke off and I'm having a hard time finding the correct wires.

I have an OEm workshop manual but there is no clear wiring scheme on that section.

Furthermore, I want to start it without the ignition on to build some oil pressure before firing it up.

I need to retract the fuse/relais for that, that's the green 40Amp fuse near the battery, right?

Wire Coloring

Knock sensor: Shielded wire, inner conductor is white, shield is gray. (Page # Z-32 in '94 FWM)

Oil pressure sensor: Gray with red stripe. (Page Z-42)

Water temperature sensor: yellow with white stripe near sensor (gray on instrument panel side of X-14). (Page Z-42)

Check out page Z-24 (for manual transmission RX-7). Colors are listed along the wires. At the starter motor itself, looks like only one wire sourced through the fuse box to the starter solenoid... black with red stripe. Main power to starter comes direct from battery, no fuses in the line. Other connections are shown on the starter solenoid line including starter interlock switch and one PCME connection; both are black wires with red stripe.

No, that's only one of two paths to the wiper of the ignition switch. Better to remove the 15 amp "Engine" fuse, which disables the actuating coils of both the EFI relay and the Fuel Pump relay, preventing both ignition and fuel pressure. (See page Z-28.)

Just one Q. towards the starter there is the main starter cable and black connector that attach on the starter itself. There is a cable exiting the wiring loom about 10 cm before the starter motor which has no connector on my loom.

Any idea about that one?

Sounds like it might be the "harness ground" (see below) that should have a ground lug on it, to be attached to the aluminum bracket behind the A/C compressor. Is the wire color black?

That's the big black cable with yellow stripe. I have it attahed directly to the center iron for grounding.

The one I'm talking about sits at the end of the cable tree. I'll check all the colors today and make some pictures
